A favorite past time this summer in Midway….catching salamanders.
And for those who lost interest…there was a basketball court nearby.
Even though we were in a house with 9 beds, I laid every single night on my one teeny tiny corner of our king bed.
By the morning I was at a complete diagonal on the bed while my cutest Navy basically laid over the top of me.
The Pips has some best friends….The Twins.
And just like “Bennifer” and “Brangelina”….they have a combined name.
Introducing….
“The Twips”.
Pioneer Day was glorious.
It consisted of dining al fresco.
(Dinner made by Mary K and Susi / Grilled by J and Jon. Garlic bread by yours truly.)
Then it was time to digest and relax.
All while the kids played.
And played.
And played.
And then learned the art of basketball rim hanging by Jon.
Happy Pioneer Day!
Bountiful throws their Pioneer Day fireworks show on the 23rd.
So we lucked out with front row seats from Seth’s backyard.
It was kid central — with 19 kids.
Just the way I like it!
Navy and Rosie and Jessie’s little girl had a hay day in some big girl make up.
It was constant giggles from these three all afternoon.
I thought it was just little girls laughing about unicorns and fairies.
But then I saw Navy’s make up.
I think the giggles were directed towards her heavy hand.
Nothing beats the Park City Open Air Market.
Except the market with Mexican corn.
And fresh limeade to wash it down.
It is amazing to be in Midway.
Even more amazing that Britni arranged for me to stay in her aunt-in-laws house the whole time, that is just around the corner from Susi/Brit.
Our first day held a lot of excitement.
Swimming at the neighbor’s house.
Scooter scavenger hunts.
Playing with loot from the scooter scavenger hunt.
An attempted photo op while the kids all fought for their turn on the hammock.
Then another photo op bomb.
Yet another….this time with mouths full of scavenger hunt loot.
And finally….a bee sting for this tough guy.
His reaction?
He came in and said, “Mom, check this out. A bee stung me.”
I asked if it hurt.
He told me, “No, not really. I just have this cool bump from it.”

I’ll take Midway any day.
Full of relaxing and fun….and kids who don’t even complain when they are stung by a bee!
I love me a good road trip. And our bi-annual road trip to Utah, might be my favorite of all.
The drill:
Get up around 4:00am
Drive right through to St. George.
Stop at Pizza Factory for salad and breadsticks.
Drive through to Provo.
Sing our “Y” song that Shem made up years ago when we finally see the Y…”B-Y-B-Y-BYU. Do you want to smell my shoe? If you don’t I do not care….I’ll pull down your underwear!”
And then exit the freeway at University Ave.
It is nostalgia and happiness all wrapped in a 12 hour package.
Dash on one of his naps.
(Notice our visitor in the back — Grey!)
This time, as we arrived, we went straight to BYU.
(The kids got a roll of nickels. As we drove, if they fought/teased/asked if we were there yet, I confiscated a nickel. Once we finished our drive, they got the remaining nickels to spend at the BYU candy counter.)
Before we hit the candy counter, we stopped by the arcade, where Scout did his usual — scavenged for extra money.

So excited to be in Utah for the next few weeks!
After the fair, my kids begged Megan to let DOey stay the night.
When she finally gave in, they all started plotting.
Amazingly, their first plan was an overnight in the clubhouse….and they did it!
I wasn’t sure of they would last, but along with everyone else in the house, they woke up at 9:00 am.
Then we all headed to Stacks for a little breakfast.
(Pips loves the high chair!)
And then we were off (after picking up Ka and NayNay) to Big Air for a ton of competing and exercise!
-
We finished the afternoon off with Rice Krispie treats, Saturday “morning” chores, You Tubing our upcoming vacation, Beach Cities Pizza, and then a drive home around 9:00 pm.
Obviously, we love a sleepover from Doey!
