ONe of my favorite days of any Utah trip.
And certainly some of my favorite pictures.
And if it wasn’t perfect already, we headed into have Lion House rolls.
All kids gave the whole afternoon two thumbs up!
Just a fun popcorn party in Sug’s bed after another long day of play.
-
Props to the woman who doesn’t mind popcorn kernels snuggling up to her at 3:00am.
I had heard bout this new museum at Thanksgiving Point.
So I went for myself to see what all of the hype was about.
And it was RAD!
My kids and I were there for about four hours, and we all had a really fun time learning and playing!
We will definitely be making this a regular stop on our Utah trips.
See what I mean.
By the time we got home, the kids were so wiped, they fell asleep with their eyes squeezed shut.
Our Midway Mornings carried the same summer theme we have had in California.
Work Hard - Play Hard.
…
And before all of that….we had to get ready.
So in chronological order….
Sleepers would get up one by one.
Scout mastered the remote attached to a thousand channels, and would turn on cartoons each morning.
And then Mama would come out and ruin it all!
Then it was baths.
With the cutest girl ever!
And a little accidental rough housing.
-
Then house cleaning, reading time, scriptures, laundry, and Midway School.)
-
Then I would head in to get showered up, while the kids all vegged out for a few more minutes
-
Finally, it was off to play hard…..until at least 11:00 pm.
(Did I mention that our mornings were typically started around noon?)
Aaahhhh!
The vacationing life is for me!
Just a chance meet up with my good friend from college (who has apparently gone homeless ever since) — Jeremy.
Looks like the Piips likes him as much as I do!
A Sundance photo shoot seemed like a perfect Sunday afternoon activity.
So we rode the lift, and I snapped as my kids climbed/walked/discovered/played.
(Scout found a snake and was showing it to Dash.)
I thought they turned out pretty good for an impromptu shoot by a joker of a photographer.
The Utah crew all met up at Los Hermanos for a very hectic and fun lunch.
And then it was off to one of the most beautiful places I have seen with my own eyes…Vivian Park.
We always make a stop, but every time, I think it gets prettier and prettier.
And as my kids get older, they are more excited about hiking, picking wildflowers, and going on adventures.
A few pics from the day:
This kid cruised the river the whole time we were there.
All of the boys discovered a water snake, and they spent 30 minutes trying to catch it.
A few pics from our “bear hunt”.
These cousins picked wildflowers along the way.
After a while, we sent the little kids back, and took the “bigs” on a longer hike.
It was so pretty and so fun.
We finally headed back for the watermelon smash.
Obviously my fruit lovers were fans.
(But I will admit that the watermelon got quite the “smash” from Gabe, and maybe got smashed a bit too much this time.)
And then it was time to head home.
The day WIPED all of the kids.
WIPED!
Just check out Dash, who was sound asleep before I even put his full seat belt on.
It was a major gang at the BYU bowling alley this morning.
The gang included a bunch of superheroes — such as “Scout Thor”.
And Gabe.
These sailors (alongside J, Brit and me) headed down the Provo River on a raft. We personally named our raft the S. S. SpiderMonkey, and had the funnest time ever. The adults would row and row, and as soon as we saw anyone, we would sneak up on them. Once we were close enough, the spider monkeys would jump out and jump onto the unsuspecting river rats. We laughed and laughed every single time. RoRo and Scout were champs at the tactic, and after a while, Navy and Grey caught on. The poor people who were attacked by us!
Sidenote:
If these two don’t get married in the future it will be a crying shame! They are so sweet, loyal and cute to each other. She always waits for him. He always protects her. They are the best of friends of anyone I have ever seen of that age.
(And the in-law situation would be amazing!)
This kid was hands down my best helper.
He was Dash’s best friend, and Pippi’s personal carrier.
