I used to watch Skylar get into Nonnie’s shoes for hours every day.
She would go from one pair to the next, and become a new made-up character according to her shoes!
Fast forward 15 years.
We have a new dress-up, make-believe girl in town.
Today, this is Vivian.
(wink)
I know this is a mom fail…but in my defense, I REALLY DIDN’T THINK SHE WROTE IN IT!
I was actually cleaning out drawers, and was about to throw this away, so checked through “Navy’s Journal”.
Yes, I saw the warnings.
I still didn’t think they were real.
“I have a performance at school at 8:00 to 8:30 am. I am going to wear a poofy red skirt. Please come. My dad is on a fishing trip till Thursday. (Crying Face) I wish he could come. But he can’t, so I’ll just have to deal with it.”
HA!!!
How glad am I that this was about Micah and not me!
I took a picture of this and sent it to Micah, and was really glad that I was at her important performance!

Then I carefully placed her journal back in her drawer.
We ditched out on a day of school, and hit up the happiest place on earth!
We rarely are together as just a family of 6, and it was really fun.
We are also at a really fun pocket of life, where everyone can ride almost everything, everyone WILL ride everything.
Pippi did it all! She didn’t shy away from anything, and loved every single ride! My favorite thing of the day, was seeing my kids enjoy these rides together. And after each ride, when I saw Scout holding Dash or Pippi’s hand, it melted my heart.
We slowly went throughout the park, and took every single sight in.
Pippi got the best seat for the parades!
It was really just a fun day.
With a little Denison scandal.
Can you believe this kid!
The peeing boy struck again.
Pippi is constantly marching to her own drum.
While we waited for lunch today, she informed me she could do table ballet.
I told her to sit.
Then she told me that if we got in a crash, she would be safe like this!
I told her to get her seat belt on.
Pippi was in a “Mary” costume in primary class, and begged to wear it to singing time. Her teacher agreed, and it worked out perfectly, because Nonnie was teaching a song about Mary today. So Pippi lucked out when she got to stand in front of all the kids, and pose as Mary…holding her little baby Jesus. She played the part perfectly.
I love the Brockbank service project each year. I love for my kids to be a part of washing cars portion of the project. And this year they worked extra hard, alongside Bryan the Great! I told them that they didn’t get to pause for ONE SECOND…and that if Bryan (with a bad back) was working…THEY were working. I was proud of them this year.
And Megan and Bryan…you guys are my inspiration!
I was grabbing Pippi out of the shower, so opened up the door to see this sight!
Something about Scout in Nonnie’s shower cap had me rolling.
I asked him why he had it on, and he told me, “If I don’t shampoo my hair, my shower is WAY faster!”
I wasn’t sure how anyone could shower in less than 64 seconds…but apparently that shower cap put him under that time.
(Obviously minus the time it took to put the cap on.)
Too bad he got out, and I sent him in for his second shower — this time to wash his hair!
Dash — “I won every time in scum with my imaginary friend.”
Me — “What’s your imaginary friend’s name?”
Dash — “Poop Face.”
Guess who is on hedgehog duty? Navy was asked to pet sit for Royal’s hedgehog, and she was so happy to oblige. That is on day one. On day two, she let him play in his cage. Day three, I made her feed it. Day four, I made her play with it — even if her hands were already busted up from the needle quills. Day five, we called Royal (who was home the day before) and demanded him to pick up his stinking pet.
Grace wrote me this note today:
Ummm! Leave it to Scout to get all of his tutoring money returned to him by Grace. I was so pleased to see that she thinks Scout is working so hard. And Scout was so stoked to get $11 returned to him. I literally laughed so hard when I read this note, and then I looked up at Scout, and he had the most “I’m the greatest kid on earth” smile across his face!
Classic Scout, who is $11 richer.
And sucker me, who sent a return note to Grace the next day. I applauded her efforts and kindness, with a mandatory-to-keep $20 bill inside!
