On Scout’s eleventh birthday, I sent him to school in a silver glittery crown. When I picked him up, he still had it on! How rad is this kid, who doesn’t give a rip what he wears or does! I LOVE his confidence!
For his birthday, I took him to Target to pick something out. Instead of picking something for himself, he asked if he could let all of his siblings pick out something. They all did…and were blown away by how nice he was!
We obviously went to sushi for dinner, where he got his picture up on the board.
Then we went home, where he got his presents…including a speed cube that he solved in about a minute, and a putting green from Seth and Cade!
Then we had his request — molten lava cake…that I overcooked! HOW SAD!!!
And finally, he and I chatted for 30 minutes before bed, where I did a quick birthday interview with him.
Scout….how has it been 11 years!
You argue too much. You tease a lot. And you take too short of showers. But you know how to be so selfless, and good, and happy. You are sometimes a thorn in my side right now…but most of all…you are my literal pride and joy. You make me laugh so hard! You make me proud of you! And you lead your siblings by a really great example most days.
I love you…all eleven years of you.
Kisses and more kisses.
Mom
Dash is learning game-play from the best.
I love that our kids enjoy games.
I also love that our kids are competitive and smart..so that we can have fun playing games.
Unless it is one of those times where the competitive streak rears its ugly head…and everything goes south.
Because we have had a few of those too.
When we learned that our neighbors had a bike for Pippi and Micah…we were so stoked!
It was family bike ride (plus Seth and Cade) time for us!
We hit up the park and Yogurtland, and returned home with a good morning under our belts.
Navy presented B, with a poster she made.
Clearly, it was a hit with B.
Only time will tell if it is predictive of Ka’s future.
While all of my kids were all over the place — and I literally couldn’t keep track of them, Pippi hung out at the cotton candy booth. Where she loaded up on short term energy….
So she could cross the monkey bars over and over again.
At four years old, it was a steep drop, but she literally had those things mastered!
I got this text today…telling me that 21 out of 23 Chinese State tests came back, and Scout is getting the top grade so far!
I was dumbfounded.
Mrs. Komine wasn’t….she has believed in him all along!
Every morning as the kids are getting ready to get outside the door, Scout hurries ot put on his shoes. And for the last two weeks, he always freaks out…and wonders how in the world Navy sneaks a rubber ball in the front of his shoe! It happens every day, and he watches her like a hawk…but she gets it in every time! Quite frankly…it is hilarious.
Back to School night is exactly what I expected…
Dash did amazing work for Ms. Kung.
Navy did spectacular work for Mr. DeSalvo, and Ms. Lu.
(Notice the matching hair bows…Ms. Lu has been wanting a hair bow like Navy always wears…so she gave her one tonight finally!)
And Scout humiliated me by doing mediocre work for Ms. Napoli and Mrs. Komine…and they both adore everything about him!
Just a mama teaching her dolls.
And resting with them when they need a break.
From what was supposed to be a 3-4 week project, to the actual 8-9 weeks it took….we finally have a finished kitchen!
We love it…LOVE IT!
Talk about the construction process being a headache!
But totally worth it in the end.
