In a constant search for good behavior…I made another chart.
The kids start on purple, and based on their actions throughout the day, they move up or down.
In order to get to the Yellow, they first have to get to the green, and then go to pink by reading 20 minutes, and then yellow by having a hero story from the day.
That hero story could be reading to a younger sibling, being extra kind to someone at school, doing their chores without being reminded, etc.
The yellow gets them a “daily” little treat they get to choose.
And each day, if they get to the yellow, they can move their clippy across the bottom.
And when they move it across to the star, they get something out of the treasure box.
Dash was so excited, because he was the first person to move his clippie up from purple to blue!

I had high hopes for this chart, but we have already done it for a few days, and I’m thinking that it is not my best one yet.
Too many moving parts!
But I tried, and will keep on trying!
I get at least one note a day from Navy.
They are hand written, sounded out phonetically, and about the cutest and sweetest things I’ve ever seen.
And I quote….
“Mom, You are my sunshine. You make me happy. Love, Navy Denison”
Dear Navy,
You make me happier!
What do you do, when you realize it is Basketball picture day, and you don’t really want 20 basketball pictures?
You poach.
And then sit $40 richer as you watch your boy make his first-ever free throws in a game.
On our current behavior chart — which I kind of hate — my kids can get a “daily”.
It is a small treat for good behavior each day.
Dash always digs to the bottom.
And finds the encapsulated animal sponge, that keeps Navy and him entertained for a really long time.
Look who is holding her own water bottle!
Not because I am challenging her, but because she screams bloody murder until she gets to do it by herself.
Notice the minimal amount of water I allow her to have.
Just a picture I got on my phone from the special date Ka took Scout on.
He said the DHHS Basketball game was one of the funnest dates he has ever been on!
And according to Ka, he got her door, bought her a snack and was really polite to all of her friends.
Atta boy!
As if three crazy kids at Basketball practice wasn’t enough, I invited RoRo and Grey to come along.
My bad.
At first, they sat patiently watching the team.
(Albeit, they aren’t really in the spectator area.)
And then they got crazy, so I sent them out.
Meanwhile, Pippi found the basket of balls, and started sending them out to Scout.
No worries.
I told the kids about the stash of outdated bread that the community center puts out for people who need it.
And it this moment in my life….I really needed it!
-
So 60 minutes, and a loaf of bread later — Basketball practice was over!
And I went home and took a nap.
First she wants to grow her bangs out.
And now two loose teeth!
I’m so sad to see my stinky toddler turning into a nice girl, who only has a teeny bit of stinky left in her.
When Scout was little, he always asked if he could run home from the gate.
Now, four years later, I often hear Dash begging to let him out to run home.
This day, he ran with his brother after we picked Scout up from school.
Dash thought he was such a cool dude!
I love this picture, because Scout was acting like Dash was beating him, and if you look closely, you can see Dash’s eyes trying to see how close Scout is!
It sounds like every day is a birthday around here. Because two or three times a day, Dash heads to wherever Nonnie is with something hidden behind his back. As he walks in, he sings “Happy Birthday To You….” to Nonnie. And at the end of the song, he reveals the surprise!
The “Dash & His Nonnie” book!
He literally has my mom read it to him at least twice a day.
He LOVES it!
L-O-V-E!
Just look at the sheer joy it brings him.
So my mom never denies him.
No matter what she is doing, she will stop and read the same words over and over.
And then…on his favorite page…
She usually stops and tells part of his birth story where he was the dirtiest kid she has ever seen come into this world!
