Ice Cube

You’ve got to love kids and ice — and this time a glow stick.
My kids are always trying to see what can freeze in ice.
Just this week, I took out three different cups of frozen water.
One with an orange in it, another with some bread in it, and the final one had a handful of change in it.
Good thing I found those because I became $1.38 richer.

Mr. Valentine

mr-valentine.png
I had an idea long ago, that finally came to fruition tonight!
Mr. Valentine was a male pageant, where the contestants walked the runway in their best-dressed, competed in a talent portion, and went up against the other contestants in a live Q+A.
Let’s say it didn’t disappoint.
And I knew it wouldn’t.  But by the lame reactions I got from all of the contestants, I just about cancelled the thing three times.
Talk about a bunch of talented babies!
And with all of the complaining, I wasn’t sure how everything would turn out.
So I set the scene, and hoped for the best.

The Runway

And of course — the winner’s booty.
img_3623-2014-02-13-at-22-35-30-1.jpg
All of these fools showed up with their game faces on, and there wasn’t one who gave less than 100%.
We had a romantic roller skater, an artistic Frenchie, a rapping cowboy, a piano-playing perv, a air-boarding country surfer, a banjo-playin minimalist and Jean Carlo — only the biggest womanizer in the world.
Some pics from the night:

Jean Carlo flirting with the judges.
img_3628-2014-02-13-at-22-52-17.jpg
Everyone was hilarious, but Jean Carlo, who did an impersonation of Juan Pablo (our current Bachelor) and then some magic where he magically took off the undies of one judge, and told the eye color of another — was definitely my favorite.
But the judges disagreed…..
they fell in love with the biggest bad attitude of the bunch….Mr. Lance Romance from France!

Here he is awarding his wife with her bracelet that was in his winnings.

It was a really fun night, and I am glad to say it was our first and last annual Mr. Valentine.
A special thanks to Mr. Congeniality — Mr. Nate Fischer…who was on board from the very start!

Navy’s Valentine’s Party ‘14

Navy’s class party was geared around reading this year.  I volunteered in the class, and got to see everything going on, and it was a darling party.  First, she got to make her very own book.
img_3554-2014-02-13-at-10-13-37.jpg
Her sidekick (and mine for the day) got to make his own also.
img_3557-2014-02-13-at-10-16-44.jpg
Of course she is at the boy’s table.
Always.
img_3560-2014-02-13-at-10-49-15.jpg
See what I mean.
img_3547-2014-02-13-at-10-03-17.jpg
Then she took her brother over to check out some of the cool school play places.
img_3565-2014-02-13-at-10-59-26.jpg
After she “smiled” as I took a picture of her in her V. Day hat.
img_3566-2014-02-13-at-11-00-43.jpg
Then they all carried in their own chairs for reading time.
Including Dash.
img_3574-2014-02-13-at-11-05-15.jpg
And after everyone was lined up perfectly, and the reading had began, Dash conveniently moved his chair to the best spot in the house.
img_3575-2014-02-13-at-11-12-14.jpg
But after I moved him away for being a bit too hands on, I gave him my phone to distract him from that really great seat he had.

Scout’s Valentine’s Party ‘14

Scout’s Valentine party this year consisted of class Valentines, Valentine mailboxes, Valentine snacks and a Valentine game.
Simple, simple, simple.
But the night before required a bit more work.
Grandma and I helped put Scout and Navy’s Valentine’s together.
I never got a picture, but they were licorice ropes, tied like a lasso with tiny rope, and a tag that read, “Valentine, you roped me in!  Your friend, Scout/Navy.”
img_1551-2014-02-12-at-20-14-30.jpg
Meanwhile, Micah helped Scout with his Valentine’s mailbox.
And what a box it was!
Check out his Chinese name on the bottom!
img_1563-2014-02-13-at-11-47-31.jpg
In one corner are everyone’s boxes together.
img_1564-2014-02-13-at-11-47-37.jpg
And in the other corner — Scout’s box solo.
-
Sidenote: Another Valentine school activity was their jump rope for the heart.
img_3534-2014-02-13-at-09-21-19.jpg
Scout started practicing about a week ago, and he was horrible.
But after his week of practice, he ended up one of the top three in his class.
img_3543-2014-02-13-at-09-26-54.jpg
And then became a good instructor to his mini me.

Hideout

img_1550-2014-02-12-at-17-04-28.jpg
Scout keeps talking about his secret hideout.
The one he comes home dirtier than ever from.
When I finally followed him and realized it was in the middle of a bunch of bushes — it explained a lot!
But being a mom who doesn’t want to dampen the wonder of being a kid — I told him I was cool with it.
(But that if a neighbor isn’t — to get out immediately.)

Sugar Snatcher

img_3522-2014-02-12-at-17-34-39.jpg
Yet another “Mommy Gasp” exited my lips when I turned the corner to see Dash with the sugar container open.
He was stuffing handfuls into his mouth.
After a quick pic, he was scolded away.
That was one sticky mess.
Silver lining–
It was 1/2 Splenda 1/2 sugar.
Or is that worse?
Did he just get hyper AND lose brain cells?!
Dang.

Notes all Around

Notes were all over the place today.
A few that I will feature:
img_3513-2014-02-11-at-17-33-05.jpg
The note Navy got when she didn’t believe Scout that I told her to get off the computer.
img_3515-2014-02-11-at-17-50-38.jpg
The note Bella got from a darling nephew.
img_3519-2014-02-11-at-17-58-01.jpg
The note “to mom” that I was supposed to get — but Bella got because I have a fair-weathered daughter.
img_3520-2014-02-11-at-18-22-16.jpg
The note that a brother sent to a sister that melted a mom’s heart…”I love you Navy.  you make the best sister ever.”

Fuzzy

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love all things ridiculous.
Especially on babies.
img_3501-2014-02-11-at-15-26-53.jpg
So when I saw these boots, I took my wallet out before I even saw the hat!
img_3506-2014-02-11-at-15-30-21.jpg
And then I saw the hat — and knew I had hit the jackpot!
img_3512-2014-02-11-at-15-32-07-1.jpg
The whole get up.
Cha-Ching!
Like my very own Harajuku doll.

Filth

img_3517-2014-02-11-at-17-52-12.jpg
I don’t understand how a boy can come home from a day at school so filthy.
It is EVERY SINGLE DAY!
I guess there is no doubt that he plays hard.

Cute and Exciting

A little rough play on the playground led to a really loose tooth.
(This time no girl was involved.)
(It was pretty loose this morning.)
After recess, barely a wiggle took that thing all the way out.
img_1541-2014-02-11-at-14-45-06.jpg
It was cute and exciting until I saw that weird gum.
img_1540-2014-02-11-at-14-42-25.jpg
Good thing his teeny tiny pencil was cute and exciting.
Cute, cause I like all things little.
Exciting, cause I remember doing wasteful and similar things like this when I was little.
I love the full circle.
