Best Brother

Navy took Scout to school with me today.
As he was loading up and getting out of the car, Navy said, “Bye Scout, you are the best brother a girl could ever ask for.”
Agreed.
And how stinking sweet.
So sweet, that I took them to Abalone Beach after school.

I can’t get enough of them being sweet together.

Abalone is always like paradise, but never more than when my kids are darling with each other.
It was like a magical dream.

Which turned into a nightmare on the car ride home.
I won’t tell you whoso hand mark that is.
Let’s just say, that hand (and the body that is attached to it) served quite the sentence in time out after such a blissful day.

The Help Yourself Kid

From the time Dash started stealing things out of the bread drawer until today, Dash has had the same philosophy.
Help yourself.
Whatever he wants, he takes.
Food, Blue IPad, toys from Scout’s secret stash, treats from Nonnie’s purse….you name it, he takes it.

This day, it was Cheesy Ruffles.

Pippi Rolls!

img_3496-2014-02-10-at-15-55-36.jpg
Caught in the act!!!
At four months plus a week — Pippi rolled over!
Front to back.
I was SO excited — and she did it four more times to show off.
She is a bit slow for the family (remember Scout rolled over at 4 days), but she is trucking along.
Good for you Pippi girl!
Good for you.
And when she was too tired to perform for more spectators, Bella was pretty sure if the prize was worth it, she would.
img_3499-2014-02-10-at-16-01-36.jpg
So she laid herself down.
And Pippi took the bait!

Rody Through Three Kids

img_3488-2014-02-10-at-09-02-34.jpg
There aren’t many toys that have lasted and been popular for all three of my oldest.  But Rody has.  Each kid has gone through a phase where they love riding the Rody.  This morning, Dash grabbed him, and bounced his way in to where I was feeding Pippi.  It took him about ten minutes as he moved about a centimeter a jump, and when he finally arrived, he exclaimed, “SURPRISE!”
I didn’t even see him coming!
Then he rode all around the room and said, “HELLO” when he was approaching, and “GOODBYE” while on his way.
And when I asked for a ride, he immediately said, “NEVER!”
The only thing better than Rody this morning — was the cutest boy on Earth who was riding him.

Spotless

When Navy came out of the bath she was spotless.
Just not bubbleless.

Biggest & Littlest

My nephew Jake and his littlest sister Chole have the cutest relationship.  They are the best of friends, and seem like they always will be.

I have a hunch that Scout and Pippi might just be the same way.  Scout is SO darling with Pippi.  He protects her, oohs and aahs over her, and stops everything when he sees her to give her a kiss.  I kind of die over their little budding relationship.

This is all just one evening when they were hanging out.
I grabbed the camera and started snapping, and had a plethora of shots of them adoring one another.
img_3472-2014-02-09-at-20-09-10.jpg
And when I tried to get in on the action — I got laughed at, and shooed away.

Stabbed

I, as a mother, take precautions.
One of those precautions is, “Don’t run with scissors”.
I have also step by step told them how to hold scissors as they walk with them.
Gripped by the blade.
Well all of my precautions flew out the window when poor little Navy turned up stabbed by herself.
img_3453-2014-02-09-at-19-19-02.jpg
Poor thing was wailing.
And wailing means something from her — she is NO wimp!
img_3454-2014-02-09-at-19-19-09.jpg
She punctured herself right near her collarbone.
img_3456-2014-02-09-at-19-20-01.jpg
Apparently, she had been holding her scissors the proper way when I called her in because she was going to get in trouble for cutting Elephante’s tail off (turned out to a joke cut, but Scout thought it was the real thing).
As she was walking with the scissors grasping the metal, she tripped.
Her hand hit the ground, which forced her grip down, leaving the needle-tipped scissor ends exposed and ready for her.
Poor girl.
Yet another victim of our family’s mission to validate all wives tales.
(Hold onto the swing / Don’t take medicine that isn’t prescribed / Don’t run with scissors!)

What I have learned through this story….motherly precautions need to be correct.
Apparently you always hold scissors with the blade down.
Who knew?

Loud at JJ

img_1526-2014-02-08-at-17-04-00.jpg
All of my kids love Jumpin’ Jammin’.  But this trip was a tough one for Dash.  Apparently his ears are sensitive to the sound?
img_1525-2014-02-08-at-17-01-24.jpg
He had one or both of his ears covered at all times.
img_1528-2014-02-08-at-17-13-55.jpg
Sometimes a ball helped him in his efforts.
img_1532-2014-02-08-at-17-54-27.jpg
The slide was particularly fast without hands to slow him down.
Maybe I should be worried about my 2-year-old who spent two hours climbing up obstacles with his knees and elbows, in order to protect his ears.
But when Scout was the same age, he spent over two years objecting to going to a movie because in the opening previews, there is a roller-coaster ride that goes by a piece of popcorn that pops really loud when we pass it.

His ears became normal.
I suspect little Dashy’s will too.

Soccer Games at the Park

img_3439-2014-02-08-at-12-02-12.jpg
When this stud is mid kick during his soccer games, the other two walking weasels walk their legs to the park.
img_3438-2014-02-08-at-11-49-36.jpg
They play really well together.
img_3436-2014-02-08-at-11-48-52.jpg
Mostly because the CEO of the park…
img_3443-2014-02-08-at-12-42-59.jpg
…has a really cooperative employee.
img_3444-2014-02-08-at-12-44-11.jpg
And after the game — Scout (and buddy Riley) want in on the fun!

Sickly Breakfast in Bed

img_3432-2014-02-08-at-10-18-41.jpg
Micah hasn’t been feeling too hot lately.  Good thing Navy took him in breakfast.  Apparently she thought fruit would do his body good.  And maybe she got a whiff of morning breath….because you might notice to Chicklets in the middle of the plate.
