A Bad Tummy

Fresh from a bath, look what the little Pipsqueak finally decided to do after a day and a half of grunting.
Even all of my elbow grease couldn’t absolve this stain.
Time to call the carpet cleaners.

75!

Happy Birthday to the best helper I’ve come across.
(Micah thanks you from the bottom of his heart!)
We all love you.
And we all know that this picture is of you laying down at a weird angle, and that you most certainly DO NOT have a double chin!
XXXOOO

A Fast Food Day

Thursdays, we have the cleaners come.
It is a crazy day of cleaning all morning and then keeping the kids out of the house so they can clean in peace.
Not all Thursdays end up like this, but today was a Fast Food kind of day.
img_0694-2013-11-07-at-14-32-19.jpg
It was Chick Fil-A for lunch where my kids could run wild behind closed doors and the Pips and I could eat with a view.
img_0697-2013-11-07-at-18-42-50.jpg
And it was Micky D’s  for an oatmeal dinner on the front porch because we got home a bit too early and the cleaning was still in action.
AS crazy as it sounds, fast food days are decently hard since Scout is picky beyond belief.
It is either:
Chick Fil-A for fries with ketchup.
Micky D’s for oatmeal and apple slices.
Jack in the Crack for dollar pancakes.
Taco Shmell for a cheese roll up.
or
Wendys for a frostie.
-
So today we went healthy with oatmeal.
-
Another thing about Thursdays….

This little minion spends a whole lot of time in his car seat.
Thank to Auntie Bree his ears stay warm!

Helper Girl

img_0691-2013-11-07-at-07-58-20.jpg
(Here is Navy helping me with Pips as I took a bath.)
I picked Navy up from school, and Ms. Leah came right over and asked if Navy was a really good helper at home.  I said that she was, and that she is the best cleaner I’ve got.  And then her teacher told me that she is constantly helping at school.  When an art project is finished, and all of the other kids run off to play, Navy sticks around to get everything nice and tidy.  And if there is ever an opportunity to hang the art projects up or organize a shelf, Navy is first to volunteer.  That makes me happy.
And this comes as no surprise to me.  That little girl has been my best helper since Pippi has come home.  Navy has been the first to pick up her little “Pipsqueak’s” diapers and throw them away outside in the garbage.  She is the first to help burp her and feed her.  She sings to her, and “babysits” for me when I go into the next room.  Basically she is keeping her safe from the Big Bad Wolf named Dash.
And she doesn’t stop there.  She is my “water girl”.  Each night, she takes my hospital mug downstairs to fill with water and ice for my night of pumping and nursing.  (You know the times when thirst comes on like a raging bull.)  Like last night before she went to bed, she came over to get my mug.  She went downstairs and filled it up with “13 pieces of ice and water”.  And it was “really really cold” because she even stirred it.  And then Scout came up with a smirky smile on his face as I was about to take my first outwardly refreshing sip.  But luckily before my oohs and aahs came, I saw that he was holding an old and tattered toothbrush that came from the toy drawer.  And then with a huge grin, he announced, “Mom, Navy stirred your water with this toothbrush!”
Needless to say, my oohs and aahs came that night without even trying the finished product.  And when she walked off to bed as my proud water girl, I looked at Micah and made the fake finger-in-the-mouth throw up sign as we both laughed.

Future Astronaut

Any guesses on who this little space invader is?
img_0678-2013-11-06-at-17-16-06.jpg
Only the cutest baby on earth and the cutest baby-to-be in space.
img_0677-2013-11-06-at-17-14-03.jpg
But for now, he is going to stay on solid ground for some rescue missions.

Pips & Dash at the Mall

img_0676-2013-11-06-at-09-58-31.jpg
Dash, Pippi and I headed over to the mall for a little shopping.
They were both great.
And although Dash usually gets the attention around these parts, Pippi took the cake this time.
Many people thought I was strolling around a doll.
Like I am going to cruise around the mall with a doll in my double stroller!
But when they realized it was a real baby, they oohed and aahed and a few snapped pictures.
Cute little Dash must have thought he was in the pictures, because he kept saying, “Cheeeeese”!
So I finally got out my camera to make sure his efforts weren’t fruitless.

Fort Sleeping

No two nights of bed arrangements are alike with my kids.
img_1776-2013-11-05-at-21-26-21.jpg
This night, they ended up in Bella’s room and had created their own fort to sleep in.
img_1777-2013-11-05-at-21-26-47.jpg
Here the weasels are after removing the “roof”.
There was a shower scrubber, a few dolls, some books and lots of other stuff that adorned their fort.
img_1780-2013-11-05-at-21-28-17.jpg
After removing everything, I added the cutest adornment of all.
Just the miniest Pip of them all.
img_1784-2013-11-05-at-21-28-53.jpg
But clearly, she wanted back into her Mama’s arms.

Pippi’s One Week Appointment

Pippi had her one week (out of the hospital) appointment with Carruthy.
Her weight was up to 5 lbs. 10 oz. which was great.
img_0672-2013-11-05-at-11-40-32.jpg
But with a heel prick, we found out her hemoglobin went down to a 9.2 which isn’t great.
But the good news is that it is still higher than what she came home from the hospital with, so she is still in the safe zone.
img_0674-2013-11-05-at-11-44-52.jpg
When we heard the kind of bad news, Pippi was in tears.
Good thing Dash was there to console her!

23 Months

Scout and Navy are 20 months apart.  And when Navy was born, Scout could not have been any cuter with her.  So when I realized that Dash and Pippi were going to be almost the same as the first two, I was hoping for good results.  I wasn’t interested in a jealous older sibling, and thank goodness, that isn’t what I got.  My little Dashy is in absolute L O V E with Miss Pips.
img_0665-2013-11-05-at-09-20-41.jpg
He is constantly finding her, and laying his head down on her.
img_0667-2013-11-05-at-09-23-14.jpg
He is even sharing his blankets with her.
This is a BIG deal.
img_0668-2013-11-05-at-09-23-21.jpg
And when I try to snap some pictures of the love, he gives me a side dirty look for me to get away.
img_0670-2013-11-05-at-11-31-46.jpg
I knew my two older kids would die over her, but Dash is definitely part of a three way tie.

Potty Trainers…WARNING: Graphic!

A mother truly does have a sixth sense.  Mine was in full effect when I didn’t hear any of my three children for about fifteen minutes, and it was smack dab in the middle of the 4:00-5:00 crazy hour.  Knowing they were probably up to no good, I stopped making dinner and went searching.  When I found them all in the guest bathroom, they innocently explained to me that they were trying to “surprise” me by getting Dash to go potty on the big boy toilet.
img_1774-2013-11-05-at-19-17-38.jpg
When I questioned their frantic wiping, they told me that they didn’t know he had to go poops, and it “kind of got messy”.
I thanked them for the almost surprise, and told Scout and Navy that we are just going to wait for Dash to potty train himself the way they each had.  It was all sweet and lovey-dovey until I looked around a little more.  There was poo on the walls, poo on the door frame, and potty all over the floor.  And then I started get a little tension in my voice.  They reassured me that they would clean it all up perfectly.  They finished wiping down Dash, and sent him on his way to clean up the rest of the mess.
I thought all was well, and was proud that they were acting pretty responsibly.
And then I went to re-diaper Dash.
img_1775-2013-11-05-at-19-17-54.jpg
Apparently, this is how they cleaned him.
So with a little more tension in my voice, I went in with my own rags to get that bathroom back to ground zero.
Needless to say, my potty trainers have been restricted from their good deeds.
