Kicked Out Tooth

They say things happen in threes.
First Pippi.
Then Dash.
Now Scout.
As I walked into his class to volunteer, the entire class was yelling at me to look in Scout’s mouth.  When I did, I could not believe my eyes.  His front left tooth was completely gone, and it wasn’t even loose.  And there was a split from where his tooth was up to the gum line where it meets the lip.

It was NASTY!  And when I saw it, 30 minutes after it had happened, it was still bleeding.  Apparently, the “boys chase the girls game” got a little intense when Audrey thought she was going to get tagged, and turned around and kicked.
It was an innocent mistake, but it was a little odd that nobody at the school notified me.
But even weirder when Audrey’s mom was volunteering at the same time, and only said, “I heard my daughter kicked your son.  Kids….”
Talk about clueless!
My only possible guess of why this was so understated was because Scout thought he was a stud!
He didn’t cry, and was basically boasting about the tooth fairy coming that night.
Until I saw his mouth, I was even poo pooing it.

Later that night, I texted a picture to Joe.  I wanted to make sure that it would just heel properly.  When he saw the picture, he said he was on his way, because it was probably fine, but needed to be looked at.
Good thing too, because there was a fragment of bone still in there that needed to be extracted.
So with some Max Strength OraGel and a pair of tweezers, Joe took care of business.
Poor Scout actually asked for some pain medication afterwards.

The next morning, the poor guy still had a fat lip, but was still in good spirits.

And although I was devastated that Christmas pictures are around the corner, and that my little boy ’s aging got sped up by a dumb girl…he sure is still handsome!

Happy 1 Month!

It is hard to believe that this little thing has only been here for one month.
So much has already happened in her tiny life.
But out of everything…her Mama’s favorite thing that has happened is that she sleeps through the night.
I swear it is partly because of the little cocoon I make her in the comfiest blanket.
There is a bit of inconsistency still, but four days out of the hospital, she slept from 12:00am until 6:30.
And last night, this girl slept from 11:00am until 6:30.
I have always had great sleepers, but I was wondering if this NICU-for-over-three-weeks baby would be on the eat-every-three-hours NICU schedule.
Apparently not.

Happy Birthday to you, Pippi!
But an even happier birthday to me!

On Time

My mom was whisked away for her 75th birthday to the East Coast by Tristen.
So while she is away, I am trying to give her some great birthday presents from afar.
On the agenda is cleaning out the toy room, organizing my millions of kid’s books and the shelf that houses them, and this day…..being on time to church.
I try and try, but being prompt does not come naturally to me.

But this day, I sent this picture to her, that was time stamped well before the opening prayer.
And then we stopped at Micah’s parent’s house and got a bit sidetracked.
But you know what they say….what she doesn’t know, won’t kill her.

The Greats

img_0651-2013-11-02-at-15-39-26.jpg
Pippi got to meet the greats on Saturday.
This is their fifth great grandchild.
And although I am sure they like each the same, I am sure there is a little soft spot for the latest and greatest that is all bundled up in pink and barely bigger than a UCLA football..

Icka’s Journal

Over the summer, I had Scout and Navy write in a journal.  They had to write three sentences and draw a picture on various subjects I would give them.  One day, I gave them the subject “Bella”, and Navy recently showed Tristen what she had written.  (Bella let’s Navy play mother to her, and she is the daughter.)  Tristen was dying over it and snapped these photos.

It is hard to read, but I’ll transcribe…
“Bella,  you are my daughter.  I know you are so good because you are the spirit and love of my heart.  I know…”
img_9034-2013-11-12-at-14-38-23.jpg
“…you are in love with me and you do good prayers every night.  I love you.”

She dictated this to me, and I wrote it lightly for her to trace over.
I had forgotten about how darling it was, and am glad Tristen brought this one out of the archives.

Brockbank Pets

The Brockbanks always have some sort of crazy pets.  They have had lizards, snakes, birds, turtles, bunnies and a dog.  (Disclaimer: I have surprised them with two of those!)  That being said, they have hit an all time low!  They are currently the owners of a millipede and a tarantula!  NASTY!  In Megan’s defense, they bought them both off of Craig’s List when Megan was on a vacation, with the “spending money” she left.  I think Megan was horrified, but being a good sport, she allowed them to keep the pets as long as they lived in the tree house.

So the other day as we introduced Pippi to the cousins, Cade went out with my other kids.
Dash ran back in saying “Creepy….creepy”, but we weren’t sure what he was referring to.
And then I saw the pictures.

Of my fearless girl holding the tarantula first.

And then my cautious boy taking his turn.
I think Dash got it right.
CREEPY!
