Britni the hair guru!

Britni Samuelian graduated from hair school last week.  So I figured she was ready to tackle my hair.  She did an awesome job with a partial weave -I wanted to go lighter for the summer- and Britni suggested “lingerie layers” which turned out great!  Tristen, Britni and I made a day out of it.  We watched a movie, had lunch and laughed about the whole time!  Watch out Ken Paves….there is another guru in town! **Woops! Actually, she is moving back to Vegas**

Memorial day = I month old!!!

Micah and I had a great time on memorial day.  He woke up and went with some buddies to the park to play ball.  Scout, Skylar and I headed down in support and stayed for a bit.  Afterwards, we headed to the beach.  We met up with the Brockbanks at “Trail 1″ at San Onofre.  While there, I was the judge of the sand castle contest.  Micah and Chloe were a team, and took first prize! The weather was beautiful, and unlike other beaches, it was not crowded at all.  We then topped the day off by heading over to the Samuelian’s house.  Britni and Jason are housesitting.  We ended up having a BBQ — hamburgers– and finished up with a little 1 month birthday celebration for Scout with our new favorite treat….Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream.  Scout  went with my mom and Trilby to South Coast Plaza, and then met up with us at the BBQ.  He was angel for them and also for me!  Happy 1 month….and I can’t believe it has already gone by this fast!!!!

He does adore Belly!

dsc01961.JPG

I am sure it is obvious, but I just realized why I shouldn’t leave my computer unattended.  Read below to find out.  But I am also going to clear something up.  Tristen renamed herself “Bella” after our trip to Europe about six years ago.  When she came home, she insisted on every niece and nephew to call her Bella, or she literally did not answer.  She has done a pretty good job so far, but I always told her that my kids wouldn’t succumb to the ridiculous request.  Instead…they would call her BellY!  At first she wasn’t a fan, but when I started to get every one of our nieces and nephews to call her Belly….we negotiated.  She said as long as I would stop telling all of ther other kids to call her Belly…..she would accept the name from my kids.  So Belly it is…..feel free to call her it anytime!

First words…

“I LOVE BELLA!”   - Can you believe it?  Our little 1 month old is a genius.  Not only is he physically ahead of his peers - but his first sentence was uttered this morning as he looked up at his adoring aunt.  I don’t doubt why he feels so strongly about this skinny, funny, cute even with short hair, smart little sister of mine.  In fact, I must admit for the past few years I’ve been in awe of her as well.  I think I might even be jealous of her, although mommy says jealousy isn’t so becomming of me.  But that Tristen Kylie Ure - what a great sister to have.  I wish I could be more like her.  I wish I didn’t have to try so hard to crack a joke only to have everyone laughing at me instead of with me.  Not Bella…she opens her mouth and the humor just flows right out of her.  She’s such a charmer!

And she’s gotten so pretty these days.  I told her when she was a freshman in highschool something that I wished someone had told me, I said, “Tristen, your not going to get by on your looks so you better have a dang good personality!”  I take that back now - she could get very far on her looks alone.  She’s like a triple threat…she’s got the personality, the looks, and she’s even a R.M.

I love my sister Bella and I hope my little one grows up to be just like her.  In fact…I’m hoping to grow up and be just like her too!  If only my freckles were more of a brown tone like hers instead of the orange spots I’m covered in.  Oh…and she dresses so cute!  And she can dance!  And she’s my moms favorite!  And she’s my American Idol!!!  I love you Trissy!!!

How Rude!

(Sorry it is blurry - it was too close, and I don’t claim to be a photographer!)

Ever since I was a little girl, my family has told me my singing voice is horrible.  It didn’t hit home until I was rocking Scout and he was perfectly happy.  I started to sing to him, and about 1 second into the song, he would get this sour look on his face and start to cry.  I then would stop, and he instantly became happy once again.  Tristen and Calin were by us, and made me start singing over and over.  And like Pavlov’s dog….as soon as I would open my mouth in song, Scout’s tears started rolling. American Idol…I think NOT!

Tristen loves photography, and put a little photo shoot together for Scout the other day.  For three weeks old, Scout took direction really well, and was really good during the whole thing.  She also did a great job, and here are some of the cutest pictures….

and last but not least….THE THINKER (I think Micah pulled him aside and told him how to pose for this one!)

The Hungry Hippo!

getting-big.jpg

We went to see Dr. Carruth today.  At this appointment Scout was 3 1/2 weeks old.  At his last appointment about two weeks ago, Scout weighed 7 lbs, 11 ounces.  Today he weighed in at 8 lbs, 14 ounces!  He is a growing boy, and I had a hunch since he is the hungriest guy I know next to his dad!  Like father…..like son!

I Love Daddy!

i-love-daddy.jpg

Scout absolutely adores his dad.  He just looks at him and looks at him.  This morning Micah got Scout up at 7:30 and I fell back asleep.  I don’t like to sleep in, but I guess I was lacking in that department because Micah came and woke me up at 10:30.  In the meantime, Micah had bathed and dressed Scout.  He then took him to the hardware store to get a couple of things done.  And then they just “hung out” and looked at eachother for a bit.  He is a great dad, and Scout is one lucky boy to have him!

Century Rider!

Congratulations to the Shmickster…he completed his second century ride ever.  This one was better than his first -the Solvang Century- where he was miserable, and the wind was horrendous.  This time, at mile 80, he was ready for the ride to be over.  It was 107 miles, and he finished it out with no problems!  Nice job babe!

His First Caricature!

the-artist.jpg

We went to the new Bloomingdales at South Coast Plaza.  In honor of just opening, they had fun things going on everywhere.  In the kids department they had a balloon artist and a caricaturist.  (They must have been at my wedding!)  Scout sat very patiently for his first sketch ever!  The artist said it was his youngest model ever -19 days old-.  The artist did a good job, but went a little overboard on his hair.  He looks like his dad with a full head of it, as versus the wispy stuff he really has.
