Oops….I did it again!

Scout has the ability to time things perfectly.  I think he does it just for me, because it cracks me up every time.  This particular time, my mom was the poor victim.  It was about 6:00 pm, and the little Scoutster had a sick tummy.  My mom was consoling and calming him.  She said she did the trick, and proudly handed him over to me.  I then pointed to the proof that Scout calmed and consoled himself….all over her!  Thank goodness for Spray and Wash!

The Cradle

When my first sister was born, my dad built a cradle for her. Every child in my family -all 12- slept in the same cradle.  Now, 40 years later, little Scout is sleeping in it.  It’s kind of cool to think Scout and I both started out in the same bed!

He’s a Shopper!

I took Scout to the mall last Thursday for the first time.  I was really interested to see if he took after me - who loves to shop, or his dad - who despises it.  He did sleep most of the time, so Micah thinks he takes after him.  I, on the other hand, think that his calm and pleasant demeanor means he is going to love to shop! Then again, he was with me, my mom, Tristen and Skylar, -all shoppers- so he really had no say.  Time will tell….

My First Mother’s Day!

mothers-day.jpg

I have been looking forward to “officially” celebrating Mother’s day for a long time!  This year I made it just in time…thanks to the little guy!

I woke up to breakfast in bed thanks to Calin and Micah!  We then went to Sacrament Meeting for the first time with Scout, and enjoyed a great Mother’s Day program my mom was in charge of.  It turned out great - with a special poem to me “the first time mom” by Skylar.  It was also fun to have everyone see our new addition!  Micah and I then went over to his parent’s house for a brunch that his dad and sister prepared.  It was delicious, and fun to hang out with the Denison’s.  Afterward, my family headed down to the Brockbank’s house in San Diego for a great afternoon which was topped off with Micah and Bryan cooking dinner.  Filet mignon, rosemary potatoes, fresh fruit salad, a green salad, fresh corn on the cob and pie for dessert!  My mom said it was the best meal she has had in years!  It really was fabulous, and they even cleaned up after dinner!  What a perfect day! BUT….the most perfect part of my day was when I woke up with Scout early in the morning before anyone was up.  I was looking at him and he looked back at me and gave me the biggest smile.  I am sure it was a little gas smile, but it was the perfect treat for me on my first mother’s day.

No More Cravings!

From the day I was pregnant, I have been craving sushi!  Because it is on the list of “what not to eat while you are pregnant”, I had to stick to California Rolls and Crunchy Rolls.  Well now that the ten months of being pregnant have passed…it was time to dig in!

To celebrate Scout’s 12th day, we went to Good Choice Sushi - my favorite - with my mom and Tristen.  He met our favorite sushi chefs -Rue and Rio, and he had his first go around with chopsticks!  I think because he is 1/4 Japanese, he is a natural!  We had a blast, and Scout was perfect!

Skylar Is Getting Worried!

skylar-and-the-babe.jpg

Skylar is literally my mom’s bosom buddy.  They have everything in common and spend as much time together as possible.  But with Scout being the #1 at our house over the past week and a half, I think Skylar is a little worried she is on her way to being replaced.  It was the following story that tipped me off:

Skylar was talking to Nonnie (my mom) and Nonnie said, “Skylar, who is the love of my heart.”  She shrugged her shoulders, and Nonnie asked again, “Who is the love of my heart?” She still wasn’t sure, so Nonnie said, “Skylar, YOU are the love of my heart!”  Skylar then pointed to Scout and asked, “What about him?”  Nonnie said, “I sure love him, but you have been with me so long.  YOU are the love of my heart.”  Skylar was pretty happy about the answer, and after thinking for a bit responded with, “He could be the love of your rib!”

We Will Make Cute Girls Too!

I know EVERY man in the world is against what I did, but a mom just has to wonder if we will make cute girls too.  And it looks like the answer is a resounding YES!

It wasn’t a fluke!

cimg0473.jpg

In case anyone is wondering if Scout’s rollover at four days old was a fluke, I just witnessed it again.  The phone was ringing, and I put him down on his tummy.  By the time I answered and looked back, he was mid roll.  Debra Bledsoe (mother of 6) was the person on the other line, and I told her what I was witnessing….and she was truly amazed.

He Sleeps!

I don’t know if it is because he had a really long day with his first doctor’s appointment, a Costco run, his 1 week borthday celebration, and Bryan Thacker’s birthday party, but on his 1 week birthday….Scout slept through the night! I fed him at 11:00pm, and put him down afterwards.  I kept waiting for him to wake up, but I finally woke him up this morning at about 7:30am.  Hallelujiah!!!!  I just hope he keeps it up!

Happy 1 Week Birthday!

cimg0521.jpg

I can’t believe our baby is already 1 week old!  In honor of this day, we had a little birthday celebration.  I made him a baby blue cake with a sparkler candle on top, and we all sang to him.  Then on the video camera, I made everyone say one thing they loved about him.  The whole event was perfect except for one little problem…..he slept through the whole thing!
