Pippi wanted to take Goldi on a special date…a best friends date.
(She informed me that Sturdy is actually her best friend, but Goldi is a nice friend.)
After treats, we went to the nail salon.
Pippi was in her heaven, and Goldi warmed up after a while to start enjoying it.
But afterwards, when they both had bright pink nails, they were both in heaven!
Back to School Night is always an interesting experience. I remember my mom telling me that she would always go to Seth’s classes and send my dad to Shem’s classes. I get it. But unfortunately, since I am the one doing homework, communicating with the teachers, etc. Micah gets to go to Navy’s class (where they sing her praises and everything she is already showing off from the beginning of school, looks like masterpieces on display), and I have to go to Scout’s classes…where I get more and more humiliated at every turn. The big problem is, that Scout knows how humiliating it is to me, and he takes a bit of pride in doing it. Then I laugh, because I think it’s kind of funny. Hence the whole problem.
This year…the first thing I saw, was an art project the class had done. I looked for Scout’s, and almost fell over when I saw that he had really tried hard to do a good job.
Pretty decent.
I perused further and then saw these great paragraphs written by the class.
I looked all over for Scout’s, and found it on the very bottom row next to the floor.
There is the Scout I know and love. Among every other child’s well-written paragraphs, I saw, “This year I have the most awesome teachers. There so nice, this year is going to be fun. P.S. I’m awesome.” Please note: it was written in chicken scratch.
Notice his laughing in the picture they took of him. This kid is up to his old tricks.
Then on everyone’s ddesk, everyone wrote a loving note to their parents. Mine read, “Dear Mom, Please leave me 20 dollars. By the way Geff Geff.” (Some dumb new slang)
It’s tradition that I leave my kids a few dollars to buy something fun at lunch.
So I responded with a dollar and arote, “Dear Scout, I was going to leave you 20 dollars until I realized that you have not done one day of your homework. So here is one measly dollar…AND YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL YOU GET ANYTHING! Love, Mom.”
Honestly…if I wasn’t a stickler for tradition, I would have left him nothing. I actually regret not leaving him a penny.

The report back from Navy’s class was phenomenal. Micah left her $5, and a really cute note. But since it was Micah, we don’t have any photos of it.

Then, for the first time ever, we got to go to Dash’s back to school night. It was fun and exciting to see all that is in store for him this year. He did great work that was on display. We left him a note as well, and told him something to the effect, “Dash…watch your older sister, and do everything just like her!”

Another year down.
And remind me???
Do I have to go to back to school nights in Junior High?
As a mom, I appreciate nothing more than a meal that every one of my kids likes.
For us, that is Family Nachos.
And as a mom, I appreciate nothing more that a meal that everyone likes, that is simple to make!
Ballet Day two lived up to its hype.
Dash heard the hype, and wanted to know what it was all about.
He said at the end, “Pippi was so cute. But I would never want to do that stuff!”
(Thank Goodness I won’t have a man in tights anytime soon!)

The after ballet day 2 wasn’t as successful. I think Pippi might have had her biggest meltdown to date after school and ballet today. Poor girl just needs to get with the program!
King BooBoo is always getting hurt. So much, that I kind of poo poo the injuries. So when he bonked his knee last night into a cupboard, I held him for a few seconds while he was sad, told him that I bet it hurt, and moved on.
You can’t believe how awful I felt, when I saw the outcome today.
He REALLY bonked it.
Poor King BooBoo.
I texted a pic to Carruthy, and told him he was walking straight with no crazy knee movement to the sides, and that we would ice it.
I got a thumbs up.
So we celebrated with some friends at Yogurtland!
When I was taking Pippi to her first day of school, I asked her what she was the most excited for.
She said, “Painting!”
Here it is…her first painting, and “It’s a pumpkin!”
I love how Miss Dianne writes exactly what they say it is. The first of the year always include objects, but by the end, she will paint something like “This is a pumpkin that turned purple because a flood monster put a spell on him.”
I am so proud of my two boys, and their reading skills. Scout has become a legit reader. He whips through books in a week or two, and even goes to bed early to get some reading time in. That is a mother’s dream! Dash is only 5 years old, and is totally reading too! He is the best reader in his class, and he loves it almost as much as Scout.
Now it’s Navy’s turn to get on this awesome bandwagon.
Micah can barely handle these two boys in a wrestling match anymore. Throw Navy in the mix, and he is dunzo. Throw Pippi in too, and it’s lights out.
Today was Dash’s first soccer game.
He nailed the stare down.
He kind of nailed the footwork.
He sort of nailed the point of the game.
But all spectators (Pippi included) were confused about the somersaults, spins and karate chops he was doing on the field!
She memorized it and nailed it.
