Glasses

Pippi was going out for the day, and needed to see which glasses I thought would complete her outfit.

She was particularly fond of the flower encrusted sunnies.

But I thought the ethereal gold-rimmed round frames complimented her Tinkerbell costume best.
She ran with her choice.
WOW, does she need to learn a thing or two about style.

Hanging

img_8112-2018-03-19-at-15-49-26-1.jpg
Dash’s last front tooth is hanging on by a thread.  He wants me to get it so badly, but I told him I am making him keep it in as long as possible.  I told him that when his tooth falls out, he is big, and I don’t want him to be big.
He is so cute.  He keeps trying to loosen it without me seeing him.  He has even asked Navy to help.  But I intervene each time…partly because I don’t want it to make him big.  But also, because he thinks it is hilarious that I don’t want him to be big, but he wants to be!

LA Food Scene

img_8076-2018-03-17-at-15-08-40.jpg
In honor of our kids learning the Chinese language, Micah wanted to take the kids to Dim Sum.  Each of the kids found something they really liked — even Scout!  Scout and Navy both tried out speaking in Chinese, and the waitresses were impressed.  Unfortunately, Dash payed the shy card.  (Annoying!)  Micah obviously loved the food.  I was OK with it, until I spotted the spit guards the waitresses were wearing, and then I got so grossed out, I couldn’t manage to eat anything else.
Afterwards, Micah took me to Matteo, where I got some great new bedding for the up and coming new girl’s room.
Then we stopped for ice cream for a treat for the kids.
When we got back to the car…
DISASTER!
Apparently, I had left our “keyless entry” key in the bedding store that was closed for the three day weekend.
THANK GOODNESS I have the nicest sister and mom.  As soon as I called, my mom and Trilby were on their way up to LA to bring me my spare key.  Can you even imagine how selfless and kind they are!

Meanwhile, our family walked to a pizza store and ate, while the drivers were driving.  When they got there, we had a spread of food out for them to enjoy.
Afterwards, we all returned home, and were happy to be at home in our own beds.
Thank Goodness.

Mom List

When Scout had a temper tantrum and said I was not a fun mom (among other things), I gave him a good punishment.  I told him that he could spend some time in his room, and make a list of the things that I do for him.
img_8072-2018-03-17-at-09-02-33.jpg
This is as good as it gets!
On the list….
fun
awesome
helps
comforts
confidant
pays
prays
builds up
laundry
smart
scriptures
selfless
CTR
reads
gets us ready
-
Also on the list…
constipated
playdates with a “hashtag not” next to it!
Honestly, this kid could do me in some days.  But this list softened me, and made me laugh at the same time.
Scout,
You are awesome and annoying at the same time.
Good thing I adore you.
XOXO,
Your constipated Mom

Leprechaun Trap

img_8071-2018-03-16-at-21-26-21.jpg
This year, the leprechaun is “going to walk up the stairs of gold, then fall in and get stuck in the ABC gum”.
img_8070-2018-03-16-at-21-25-36.jpg
After an hour of creating, these four are sure they will get the leprechaun this year!
Especially Dash and Pippi, who don’t quite know the drill yet.

Preschool Art

I love that Ms. Diann copies exactly what the kids say their painting is.
Today Pippi painted, “It’s me frowning and crying, because I was in the dark woods and somebody found me, and I was happy!”
I always wonder if the description comes before or after the painting.
But by the looks of the painting, I think she nailed it.

Ocean Institute Field Trip

img_8044-2018-03-14-at-09-24-14.jpg
I chaperoned Navy’s class to the Ocean institute today.  Today, they got to dissect a squid, which was actually really cool.  At first all of the girls squirmed and wouldn’t touch the squid.

But not Navy…who dug right in.
Of course she did.

Pippi’s Irish Jig

img_8050-2018-03-14-at-11-11-50.jpg
Today was the big day of Pippi performing the Irish Jig.  This is the BEST!  And Pippi — out of all of our kids — might have the best jig.  It is jerky, and awkward, and makes us laugh every time she has practiced it over the last weeks.  Her performance was perfect.  Minus the hat that kept falling over her eyes, that had to be removed.
img_8058-2018-03-14-at-11-21-21.jpg
But the hat went back on when she went out to search for the bucket of gold the leprechaun had dropped.
I can’t believe this is my last kid who will perform the Irish Jig for me!
I guess it is time to make it a family tradition.

Radish

A few weeks ago, Dash went on a field trip to the farm, where he received some radish seeds.
When he came home, we planted them under our kumquat tree.

Voila!
img_8041-2018-03-13-at-16-29-43.jpg
We picked one of the radishes for Nonnie to try.
She said it was the very best radish she has ever tasted!

Dark Brows

img_8034-2018-03-13-at-10-42-25.jpg
Whoa!
I told her that she was a little heavy handed on her brows.
She told me, “You are so crazy.  They look so pretty.”
I told her to go look in the mirror.
