I am so glad it is the end of the school year! SO SO GLAD!
But I am actually really sad to see Noah and Scout part ways for good.
They have been really good buddies, and to see them go to different junior high schools will be so hard!
Good thing these girls have two more years together to perfect their handshake!
Micah says that Four on One is harder than it looks.
And he is sure that in no time, he won’t be able to take them all on at once.
In fifth grade, they do something called “Living Museum”.
That is where the kids all choose a person from American history to research, write an essay about, and then dress up like and present a speech as if they are that person.
You want to know how many times I heard about this project???
None!
That is until last night when he needed to make a three-sided board. We did it together….and it was about a 15% effort job. Then this morning before school, Scout informed me he needed to dress up like Bruce Lee, and that I was able to come and see the whole thing. I told him I wasn’t sure I wanted to go, now that I knew all of the parents would be there. I asked, and was previously under the impression that it was only a student demonstration.
I went….and was dying!!!
Amongst George Washington, Betsy Ross, James Madison, and other very influential American historical figures… (with excellent costumes)…
Was Bruce Lee!
Someone who was “ripped”, “legit” and a “hollywood actor”.
Wow…way to shoot for the moon Scout!
But quite honestly…he had a whole paragraph memorized, and when anyone came to “slap his hand” he went into full Bruce Lee mode. He gave his tidbit, made all of the kids crack up, and had a line of people to see him over and over. I kid you not…he is THE ONLY ONE who had a line. And it was the whole time! I kept hearing parents ask, “Who is Bruce Lee?” When they heard it was Scout…they would all say, “I should have guessed!”
Is that good? Or bad?
I’m pretty sure it was good, because I guarantee that the only person anyone walked away knowing more about, was “Bruce Lee who was trained by IPMan.”
Like usual…Scout pulled it off.
He was the total hit of the living museum.
And when I saw Ms. Napoli, she said, “Scout is my favorite! He always goes outside of the box, and makes things interesting and fun.”
Little does she know, that Scout already studied Bruce Lee and gave a speech on him in 2nd grade. I’m pretty sure he will have many, many more projects on Bruce Lee in the future. Why not, when you can read one book and cover grades 2-12 projects?!
I love me a CHASE credit card — they have the best perks going.
BUT I hate me a CHASE bank!
When my mom took the kids to deposit their money, they wouldn’t let her do anything with the kids accounts. They also wouldn’t tell the kids anything…or even let them deposit their money! UNTIL I FaceTimed them and told them to let them stinking deposit their money! My mom was so fed up with the manager, that by the time he let my kids deposit their money into their accounts…my mom sat back and let them do it all.
That is when said manager didn’t want his branch to go to pot…so he came to my kid’s rescue!
Amen Mom.
And goodbye CHASE….we are moving our money.
Look who is the proudest to be holding the American Flag!
And look who is the cutest in the class picture!

I was so sad to see Scout dropped off from a few hours with Seth and Cade…and suspiciously he had a fat lip and swollen eyes. I asked him if something bad had happened, and his eyes welled up with tears, and he got into his first fight that went a bit physical. There wasn’t a punch involved, but in the mix of a bunch of aggressive wrestling between Seth and Scout, his lip had been hit pretty hard. I asked what it was over, and Seth was protective over a neighbor Brennan, who Seth thought Scout was being a punk to. Based on Cade and Lexi’s report…Scout wasn’t in the wrong, and Seth misinterpreted things. Regardless, I asked Scout if he could have done anything differently, and he said “no”. (HAHA)
The saddest part wasn’t the fat lip…but Scout’s feelings that had been crushed by his buddy. He was so sad. But I loved him for a bit, and told him about something called testosterone. I told him Seth is getting it, and he is soon to get it. But it is all a matter of controlling it….so stupid things like these don’t happen. He kind of understood, and when Micah came on the scene and he heard what went down, he said, “Sounds like a case of a boy who is getting his testosterone!”
Scout headed to the pool to cool off for a few minutes, and came back in better spirits. And the best news of all…when Scout and Seth were old chums again just a few hours later!
When I walked past Micah, I told him he had a paper stuck to his back.
Upon closer inspection, that paper said, “Kick Me”.

“NAAAVVVVYYYYY!!!” Micah yelled.
Then I heard giggling and footsteps running away.
There’s nothing like a Memorial Day Race before a day of feasting and relaxing.
This year Dash and Navy split up the 5K and each ran parts with their dad.
Meanwhile, Scout ran the race solo.
ANd this year in the individual events, Navy, Dash and Pippi all took the gold. And poor little Scout got a sliding start on the loose dirt to take the bronze.
As much as I fell like these other two boys are like my very own kids…Scout has to feel like they are older brothers!
And actually…I bet all of my kids must think they are older brothers!
Seth and Cade….we will miss you this summer…but we know that everything will be exactly the same, the second we see you again!
Today was a great day for a lemonade stand.
It was Scout, Royal and Charlie for the lower stand.
And Navy and the stooges on the upper stand.
The winner is….
The big kids!!! With proceeds exceeding over $200!
But we need to take into account, that one of the stooges — Tommy — bought all of the big kid’s loot off of them for a ridiculously huge amount (I think $75) so they could have more product at the little kid’s stand!
So yes, the big kids won.
But was there a little “taking advantage” involved?
I mean — 1/3 of a stooge brain is an unfair negotiator!
