I got this picture of these three knuckleheads on a Scout Campout. I am not sure why Scout isn’t oozing happiness. Maybe because he stayed up until 2:45am. Or maybe because he is posing under the rainbow of a Joshua tree. HA!
Campout
Compassion
Navy never skips a beat. If someone is sad, scared or upset, Navy springs into action. Tonight Pippi was a bit sad about something, and within moments, Navy had Pippi wrapped in her arms while letting Pippi pick a show to watch. Every single time someone is needed, Navy is there. She is going to make one amazing Mama and wife in her future…but in the meantime, she is making one amazing sister and daughter.
Yes, I have been the recipient of her compassion on many occasions.
Lucky all of us!
Lost Paper Airplane
Dash flew his airplane up too high, and it landed on our roof. Like our family motto says, he solved his own problem by climbing onto the roof. When he got told on, I went out and told him that he is NEVER to climb onto the roof. His answer back, “Why mom? I do it all the time!” Apparently I need to add, “unless it is dangerous” to our family motto.
Essay
Dash had an assignment to type an essay for his teacher.
I literally thought I was ready Scout’s essay, when it said, “When I have free time I like to count my money”! But apparently, it runs in our kid’s DNA.
And yes Dash…I want to be your friend. Because who doesn’t love a rich friend!
Modeling
Pippi recently when to one of Skylar’s modeling shoots, and learned about posing.
Since then, Pippi has been perfecting the “pose” — and realized it is all about the popping of the hip.
In our dressing room, she popped that hip.
When I got her new wet suit in the mail…she popped that hip.
And then we found out the hip popping was contagious.
Although Navy’s hip is less popped…I see it there!
Conscientious
Micah calls Pippi, his most “conscientious child”. It’s true. She always brushes her teeth — morning and night without having to be asked. She never fails to use soap and shampoo. She immediately grabs the hair dryer after her shower. I think it makes Micah proud — like she is a chip off the old block.
Superbloom
There was so much rain this past winter, that our spring has been the most beautiful spring I have ever seen in California. They call it the “Superbloom”…but that word doesn’t even do it justice. We have had superblooms in the past…and this is more like superbloom on steroids!
We drove through the Ortega’s to catch the beauty…and when we turned a corner, we saw the hills in the distance on fire! They were bright orange — fluorescent even!
We had to stop the car and get out to admire it all.
Just take a look as we got closer. Navy and I were in awe for an hour straight. (Some others in the car were a little whiny to get to Megan’s house faster.) But how do you pass up such beauty? The answer is… you don’t.
I will take a rainy winter ANY DAY…to get this in the spring. We live among yellow hills that are covered in mustard, we have the bright orange poppies, some amazing purple, and don’t get me started on the wild sweet peas! It is all too much for me and Navy to grasp. We both agree that we hope Heaven is in a constant state of “Superbloom”.
We finally made it to Megan’s house, where one little girl who fell asleep on the drive, found a perfect waking up spot.
And then we attempted a family picture, where the boys and I were all in on the same joke, whereas Dad and the girls were taking a good picture.
-
On our drive home, I jokingly asked if we should take the scenic route. I heard my tried and true Navy yell Yes, but the Nay’s had it.
Line of Priesthood
After Bryan ordained Scout, he gave him this card to show him his Priesthood all the way back to Christ. Scout was amazed, and was pretty excited to have it. Bryan Brockbank is the best! How awesome for him to give this to Scout.
St. Patty’s ‘19
I wish I could rewind time and tell my new-mom self to skip out on the St. Patty’s Day traditions. They are so lame! Mess up your house, while throwing out money and candy to undeserving kids. Huh?
At least Dash made me laugh when he poured his change out on himself, while exclaiming…”It’s raining money”!
-
Just like the Elf on the Shelf has gone away…I am going to tell the kids next year that the leprechaun found out we aren’t Irish…so he doesn’t come to our house anymore!
Headstands
This morning, I was faced with this:
Dash wanted to learn how to do a good headstand, so we told him that if he practiced a lot…he could master the art.
So he practices all day every day!
In the Family Night Room.
On the stair rail.
While I am teaching his class P.E.
-
I truly think that he might stand on his head more than on his feet during his free hours of the day. It is constant. It is always. And you know what? He is pretty darn good at his headstands now! He may have even mastered them.
