Buds For Life

There is something so sweet about a girl and her Nonnie cuddling, and laughing at one of the other kids making a fool of themself.

The Friend

img_6282-2019-03-12-at-17-10-02.jpg
We have gotten the Friend for years, and my kids will all flip through it here or there.  But Pippi is a true Friend lover.  Each morning, as she eats her cereal, she flips through its pages.  then she will bring it to me to read her a story from it.  And tonight…she had us all sit down, as she “read” from it.  Between her favorite magazine, and a captive audience…this girl was in her sweet spot.

Mid Migration

img_6363-2019-03-16-at-13-10-07.jpg
While we were driving around today, it was the most amazing thing!  We were smack dab in the middle of a butterfly migration.  I am not talking thousands — I am talking about millions.  You couldn’t help but run into them with your car, which seemed so tragic.  When I picked up every kid from school, each of them ran to the car asking if I had seen the butterflies.  It was like something I have never seen before.  Nature is truly the most remarkable thing to ever witness.  And today DID NOT disappoint.

Sorry Notes

The story goes like this:
Scout was trying to tell Navy something.
Navy, in her true teasing fashion, stuck her tongue out at him.
He got mad and kicked — her face.
-
Enter mom.
-
I told Scout there is no reason on earth to touch her in an aggressive manner — let alone kick her!  Her spent some time hanging out in his room, while drafting an apology.

Here is his COMPLETELY lame brain apology.
I almost made him go redraft.
Then Navy said she too had an apology.
Of course my sweet Navy did something nice to her perpetrator.
img_6264-2019-03-11-at-18-37-20.jpg
She actually made an entire apology project.
It said:
img_6267-2019-03-11-at-18-40-51.jpg
Dear Scout, I am sorry for sticking my tongue out at you…
img_6269-2019-03-11-at-18-41-02.jpg
…only once…
img_6270-2019-03-11-at-18-41-12.jpg
…so I am doing it again!
-
I was shocked…and started laughing so hard at the 3D tongue sticking out at Scout!  Navy and I were rolling, and then Scout joined in!  We were all hysterical.
Nice one Navy!
You definitely ended up with the upper hand in this one!

And in an attempt to not get kicked again, she ended with a quick “Love You” on the back.

Pippi Notes

Every day I get Pippi notes.  They are the cutest little things, especially because she sounds out all of the words she writes!  Every once in a while, I need her help to figure out what she is trying to say, but most of the time I get it on my own.  And my favorite part on this particular note — is the ponytail she gave me!
After she gave it to me, she pointed out how much her hearts have improved, and how she can just write “I L U” for I love you!

Watching Themselves

Over the years, I have put together a few videos of the kids.  Every once in a while, the kids are ready early for church and turn those videos on.  I honestly think the kids have watched these same videos dozens of times — if not a hundred times..and they love them each time. I think of everything I have done for the kids, these videos have gotten the most mileage!

Biker Gang

I don’t know how cool your bike gang is, when your mom is following slowly behind to make sure you get home safely.
I’m happy to report…Cade, Seth and my Scout all returned in one piece.

Seuss Girl

Pippi celebrated Read Across America toady in class.
When she came out, I was dying over her handmade tribute.

Have you ever seen something so cute?
I told her that they should do a Dr. Seuss movie, and make her the “Seuss Girl”.
Kind of like the young kid’s “Bond Girl”.

Things

img_6230-2019-03-07-at-07-51-06.jpg
I love that my kids go to school together.  But I love it even more, when Navy’s class helps Dash’s class out, and they choose each other as partners.  On this Read Across America day, Navy’s class went in to help Dash’s class read.  And naturally, Navy chose Dash as her partner.  When I asked Dash if he was excited Navy picked him…he said “Yeah! Everyone wanted her, and she picked me!”
Naturally.

Flashback

img_6251-2019-03-07-at-10-28-52.jpg
Micah is in Utah, and saw this old-school quilt Tristen has.  He thought it was so cool to see my four-year-old artwork.  I thought it was cool to see how far my “Y”s have come.
