There was so much rain this past winter, that our spring has been the most beautiful spring I have ever seen in California.  They call it the “Superbloom”…but that word doesn’t even do it justice.  We have had superblooms in the past…and this is more like superbloom on steroids!
We drove through the Ortega’s to catch the beauty…and when we turned a corner, we saw the hills in the distance on fire!  They were bright orange — fluorescent even!

We had to stop the car and get out to admire it all.

Just take a look as we got closer.  Navy and I were in awe for an hour straight.  (Some others in the car were a little whiny to get to Megan’s house faster.)  But how do you pass up such beauty?  The answer is… you don’t.
I will take a rainy winter ANY DAY…to get this in the spring.  We live among yellow hills that are covered in mustard, we have the bright orange poppies, some amazing purple, and don’t get me started on the wild sweet peas!  It is all too much for me and Navy to grasp.  We both agree that we hope Heaven is in a constant state of “Superbloom”.

We finally made it to Megan’s house, where one little girl who fell asleep on the drive, found a perfect waking up spot.

And then we attempted a family picture, where the boys and I were all in on the same joke, whereas Dad and the girls were taking a good picture.

On our drive home, I jokingly asked if we should take the scenic route.  I heard my tried and true Navy yell Yes, but the Nay’s had it.
