Just a friendly competition of soap bubbles.
Scout’s style is “fast and furious”.
Whereas, Navy goes for the “slow and steady”.
And you know who usually wins the race…don’t you?!
But in reality, they were pretty dead even.
Just featuring Navy’s amazing skills.
And might I add….she is 100% self taught.
(Unless someone out there knows something I don’t know?!?)
This is not a staged picture.
This is literally my night with these three.
One at a time, each one makes their way to our bed.
By the second kid, Micah grabs a blanket and heads out.
By the morning, I was on the bottom edge of the bed — completely perpendicular to my spot.
It is crazy.
And as friends have heard about the craziness, they give me suggestions on how to change it.
But truth be told — I am pretty positive that my kids won’t be in my bed when they are in high school — so for now, I love them wanting to coozie with Micah and me.
Pippi was at Summer’s pool, and scored two darling chauffeurs.
Henley Packer and Reagan Barber kept her happy the whole time, as I hob-nobbed with their mothers.
It was my kind of day.
(Not sure why Reagan isn’t pictured??)
If I am looking for Pippi, it is a pretty safe bet that she has climbed something to do a little exploring.
This day, she climbed up the island to check out the mail.
Pretty harmless.
Until I discovered later, that I came onto the scene, after she took a bite out of every nectarine.
These two have been going for the world record in highest block tower.
But the risk that they take is when those blocks come crashing down — injuries happen.
Poor Scout learned that the hard way.
But was very innovative when he solved his own problem.
—
(Sidenote: I have told my kids for years to “solve your own problem”. So lately, when I see my kids do just that, I am like a kid in a candy store! I get so excited.)
It was drizzly, and we were cooped up.
So there were kids hanging from the doors.
Kids lined up to have their book read to them.
A game of “guess what I am.”
(Obvi — statue of liberty.)
And when we finally had to get out of the house….
Some of us took the proper precautions to remain beautiful.
We love a pool in our backyard.
We love ripe fruit.
We love a plate of nachos.
It was basically an afternoon of our favorite things.
Until…
Pippi forgot she didn’t have a diaper on.
Poor Dash’s meal was ruined.
Scout really made a doozie of himself today.
And after I assigned him sentences, that poor boy steamrolled like I’ve never seen before.
So in the end, he got himself 200 sentences.
Roughly 25 of the following:
“I will not yell at my mom.”
“I will not talk back.”
“I will not sass my mom.”
“I love Navy and will be nice.”
“I will make life peaceful.”
“I will be respectful.”
“I will not overreact.”
And ten of:
“Ten more, and I’m done!”
This boy was furious at first.
But like always, he came around, and stepped it up.
And then he worked hi magic….
And talked Navy into writing about 75 for him.
(Don’t worry, I insisted on Scout writing the one about being nice to Navy.)
In the end, it actually became quite the cute bonding experience, and they both felt really accomplished.
And the best part….they were darling with each other the rest of the day.
After a really fun, very adventurous, but very long trip….it is SOOO good to be home.
This boy woke up, got his own pen and paper (paper plate), and created his very own art piece…all without me having to lift a finger.
Again….it’s good to be home, where everyone knows where everything is, and partially takes care of themselves.
