I am not sure how this exact same story has happened so many times in our family, but we had another case of “I forgot my shoes”!
This time, the only extra pair of shoes in the car were Daddy’s Flip Flops.
So that is what Navy wore….size 12 flip flops on her size 11.5 kid-sized foot.
I texted her teacher and said:
“Hi Mrs. Komine, Navy forgot her shoes, so she is wearing the only spare shoes in the car — her Dads. I know flip flops are illegal at school (as are shoes 8 times too big), so please put her to work. You can have her organize or clean — or even be benched during recess and lunch. I’m just trying to teach her that she needs to be responsible for her own shoes! XO, Lindsey
P.S. If they a problem, let me know, and I will bring over appropriate shoes!”
-
Mrs. Komine (quite possibly one of the strictest teachers at the school) responded:
“Don’t worry about other shoes, it’s no problem. And it’s Friday, so she should have fun…I will let her go play at recess.”
—
Well alright then!
By the end of the day, when I picked her up (it was also pajama day), she had mastered those flip flops!
She was running out like she had a pair of Nike tennis shoes on — completely unphased by it all.
It will be interesting to see what time will tell, but of all of my kids, Dash might be the biggest game-lover like his mom and dad.
Check back in ten years.
You’ve got to love Dash’s “running position”.
He stands there is this exact pose, until the race starts.
He and I are both convinced that it really helps him run his fastest, which is why I always make sure to tell him to get into his “running position” before any race!
Pippi is at that stage where every mother’s patience gets tried.
I hear, “I do it” multiple times a day.
And then there are the times where walking anywhere takes forever.
Mostly because she wants to walk herself — but this time because she wanted to take the sidewalk’s curb AKA the “balance beam” to our destination.
I applaud her for her very slow walk, without any trips or spills!
Pips and I had a special “Mini Date” before we made our daily haul to pick up every kid.
Have I ever mentioned what a dream child she is in the car.
Every day, all day — with or without a nap, she is a perfect little carpool buddy.
Especially when we sing nursery rhymes!
You’ve got to love these four electronically-deprived children at the apple store.
All four are zoned out to their own IPad.
Or at least three are, and one is trying really hard!
I’m not sure what this caption means???
But I do love a picture of cousins loving each other.
Just a little gem that Micah left for me to find when I drove his car to Los Angeles.
How’d he know that I’d be fiddling through his middle console?
No matter how, lucky me!
This is the reason I have felt like junk for that past two months!
No wonder.
My kids lucked out when Grandma called with a rad surprise.
Her friend had extra cake, and wanted to teach my kids how to make cake pops.
They had the BEST time!
They told me every detail when they got home, and then took them all to school to share with their friends.
They actually told me it was one of the funnest things they have ever learned!
I was surprised to find out that weeding, cleaning, and organizing aren’t their favorites?!?
