Pippi and Dash have loved playing “car races” lately.
Dash brings his whole bus full of cars, and then turns the carpet upside down to make their ramp.
They play, gather, play.
And then when Pippi loses, just check out her reaction!
She falls back in full exasperation over her car not beating Dash’s car.
She is priceless.
Like father, like daughter.
DraMicah, and DraPips.
Three days ago, Navy had never gone past her ankles in the ocean. Scout reported to us that on the first day of Junior Lifeguards, she stayed on the shore during “free swim”. That night we all went down to the beach, and Micah tried to coax her into the waves. After an hour of trying, she finally made it in but came out crying. The next day, bree was at the beach, and she said that navy warmed up to the waves, and they all held hands and played in them for an hour. But still, Scout reported that she stayed on the shore. She is the youngest in Junior Lifeguards by 6 months. But there is no secret that this girl is tough as nails, so I was a little worried about the buoy swim yesterday. I didn’t care if she did it or not, but I didn’t want her to feel inferior.
When I went to pick Scout and Navy up, they got in the car, and I asked how it went.
Scout was SO excited to tell me that the top 10 get a prize, and he came in 6th place and got some free sunglasses! He was so proud of himself, and went on and on. Then I casually asked Navy how she did. She said, “I got last place”. Then I stopped the car, turned around with tears in my eyes and said, “Navy, you completed it?” She said, “yeah”. Then I told her, “Navy, you actually get first place in my book. That is the first time you have ever been in the water by yourself. And the fact that you swam to the buoy and back is amazing! I am in shock that you did it! But I knew you had it in you. Great job!!!”
I was so proud of my brave girl. And come to find out, she actually didn’t get last place, she got 6th from last, which is even more amazing. And then she told me, I a pretty sure I could have gotten a better place, but I accidentally kept my shoes on and they were slowing me down.

So this morning, as I was putting on her Zinka, she told me, “Mom, I’m pretty excited to go to Junior Lifeguards today”.
I have a little narcissist on my hands.
This morning, she made me put up a picture of her that she liked, and she just stared at it and kept commenting on it.
Then, she realized that she needed a little more Pippi, so she had me FaceTime people so she could see herself live.
I guess if I was that cute, I would want to see a whole lot of myself too!
Pippi has been in Utah for the past few days.
My mom offered, and since the kids were camping, and I was cleaning, I thought it would be a huge help…plus fun for Nonnie and Bella.
But I had NOOO idea how much my kids would miss her.
And how much she missed us.
But everything picked right up the second she walked back in the door.
She got her Nigh Night (that she left behind), got her siblings to sit with her, stuck her finger in her mouth, and started demanding.
Everything is back to normal!
Every once in a while, Dash takes a hiatus from his puzzles.
But he always returns to his love of them.
Today, he asked if his summer work could be a puzzle.
I agreed, and he actually did all six sides of this puzzle.
Nice work Dash, my little puzzle master.
Dash saw Micah’s car drive up, and he raced out to hug him.
What a welcome home for any parent!
Navy is the youngest in Junior Lifeguards, and is scared of the waves. I was surprised to hear that, so we all headed to the beach for Family Night to teach her. Micah tried every trick in the book to get her in the waves, but she skirted his every try. Over and over again.
But after about an hour, Micah finally persuaded her, and they went in. I got tears in my eyes to see her trying to be brave. The waves were huge, and they only stayed in for a few sets, but SHE DID IT!
Nice work Nave.
For the first time, my kids are doing Junior Guards.
When I found out there was a 1 week course, I was willing to do away with one week of my summer.
But barely.
Scout was soooo excited. He got all of his garb ready about three times because he was so pumped.
Navy was more among for the ride.
The best part of all, was when Navy and I were walking behind Scout walking down, and she whispered in my ear, “Look mom, Scout totally has his swag on”!
This was our first sight of Junior Lifeguards.
Scout walked a little faster, but Navy slowed a little bit.
I was nervous all day, but Scout loved it!
And Navy thought it was “fine”, but did create this beautiful masterpiece for me.
Afterwards, we headed to the Hive for some celebratory Popsicle.
And then I got the real rundown.
Scout really did love it, but Navy was afraid of the waves.
Apparently, she played on the sand the whole time, when they were supposed to be swimming.
So I made a call…
it went like this, “Micah, for Family Night, I need you to teach Navy the ropes in the waves”.
So a few hours later, we were all heading back to the beach.
My mom wasn’t in town, so she asked for me to cover her singing time.
Like always, I brought a whole lot of rowdiness to a reverent room.
I always wonder if they’ll ask me back, but I always get the call.
So in summary, they either are hard up for a sub, or they think my rowdiness is okay every once in a while.
This girl is under the radar a lot, so she probably doesn’t get the amount of shout outs that she deserves.
Navy is so awesome.
She is highly responsible, and I know that if I ever ask her to do something, it gets done.
She is so kind, and she is the first to attend to anyone who is ever sad or hurt.
She is sassy, and doesn’t let anyone rule her roost.
She is good, and is always telling me of times when she chose the right.
She is happy, she never complains and always brings fun to every situation.
She is resilient, and is constantly being sweet to formerly stinky siblings.
She is tough, without bravado…just tough.
I love Navy so much, and am so glad she is my oldest girl. She is always fun to be around, to cuddle, to plan surprises with, and to even clean with.
Navy….you are really the best!
MWAH!
