Contrary to one opinion out there, I LOVE my boys matching.
And more than me loving it, they love it too!
(Grandma…matching is FOREVER!!!)
Dash followed Scout’s lead this morning, and got right on his summer homework.
Scout was journaling, and Dash was doing his workbook.
I love to see my kids working…and better yet, working together.
Micah was on a camping kick earlier this year, and booked some spots right on the beach for the past couple of days. When I heard sand, sunblock, and no showers — I bowed out quickly. But the pictures I had sent to me the whole time made me wish I had gone.
Scout and Navy both brought a hammock, and they were in love with the lifeguard station where they could both hang theirs up.
Pretty rad!
Bree brought Alexa, and Dash and she took their turn on the hammock too.
Scout and Dash said it was the perfect place to fly a kite!
Navy collected some great heart rocks, and made sure I got a text from her with her favorite!
She is always so sweet.
I guess Icee’s and cousins were a perfect combo for camping.
And the best story comes from this picture. Apparently, Scout wanted to sleep in his hammock all night. He started out, and Micah figured he would be down, so he hung outside until he came down. Micah finally thought he was going to make it all night, and turned in. But when he woke up in the morning, he saw Scout cuddled up right next to Navy…safe in his tent.

They also went to “Sand Hill” where they surfed down it on Boogey boards. Poor Navy fell off, and cut her ear on some glass. Scout rocked it and surfed the whole way down.
Micah said the kids were so fun and perfect.

I am bummed I opted out, but I will say that with every picture I saw, my warm showers each day meant a whole lot more to me!
While the kids were away, I got to work.
On day one, I cleaned the entire kitchen — drawers, cupboards, pantry, etc.
I took me an entire day, but it is so much better.
On day two and three, I did the kid’s bookshelf, the blanket cupboards, and the game cupboard.
It literally took me two full days…it was a mess!
I organized, threw out, and donated everything.
But I stuck on a series (Friday Night Lights) in the background, and got to work…and voila!
A clean bookshelf where every DVD is in its proper case, there aren’t any broken/torn books, and they are even color coordinated.

Now when the kids come back, I am never letting them read again, because I don’t want ANYTHING out of place!
Britni sent me this picture… I think to make fun of Pippi’s facial expressions.
But I know the real truth…she’s just jealous of my cute daughter.
I always tell my older kids to be an example to the younger ones.
I tell them that they watch their every move, and copy them.
And here is the picture to prove it.
First Scout put his arm out, then Navy with her wild twist, then Dash amplified his, and finally Pippi tried her hardest to fit in.
I got an air popper for popcorn recently, and I finally put it to the test.
Just like when I was little, I air popped the kernels, then shook the paper bag while salt and melted butter was drizzled over the popcorn.
I served it up in a family bowl, and they licked the bowl clean.
It is easily my favorite kind of popcorn, and I am trying hard to convert the kids.
Scout said, “I love how every once in a while you get a wet piece that is all butter”!
Me too!
It’s my very favorite bite.
My kids lucked out today, and three of them got a date with B.
Scout and Dash got to go to Doheny with her, where they boogie boarded together for hours.
And when she came home from the beach, she offered Oh My Sushi for any takers.
Navy and Dash were in her car before she even finished the sentence.
My kids love special dates with lots of people, but B might be at the top of their list!
Scout said he wanted to go surfing.
So we packed up, and headed down the road a minute, and set up shop.
He geared himself up, and headed out.
I sat and enjoyed the view of my girls playing in the sand, and my boy trying to surf.
And after a few hours, we loaded up and headed out.
There are major perks to living half a mile away from a good surfing spot.
When the kids are wet and sandy, and only in bathing suits, we opt for one place…and one place alone.
It’s the place where we can all hang only partially clothed.
It’s the place where we can use food as our accessories.

It’s Harbor Pizza — our regular joint.
