Seth’s family went to Lake Perris with the Brockbanks, and Scout wanted in. So I took Rose, they took Scout, and it was a perfect trade off. They said Scout was the king of the tubes, and begged to go faster and faster! And then they would all wrestle each other to see who the last man standing was, and I guess Scout had a few wins! I really can’t believe how brave my little boy is becoming!

Sweet Serenade
After getting the kids off to school, I was delighted to be serenaded by my cold princess, and her mini guitar.
It was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and it was perfect.
OC Fair ‘16
Step right up to the Orange County Fair!
Where you can experience games!
And rides!
Shows!
Product displays!
Navy took third place, but Scout and Dash didn’t place….I guess we will be back next year for the Churro eating contest domination!
The River ‘16
Micah and I are so annoyed that we got such a short summer (2 months) this year, that we decided we needed to stick one last trip in before school.
There were a few ideas on the table, but Micah really pushed the river…so here we are…in all 109 degrees of it!
And I’ll admit, that it was a really fun few days.
Here are just a few of the highlights…
Scout tried EVERYTHING! He went from last year, where he didn’t try anything — even the tube, to trying every single thing this year. I’ve always said it….Scout is an observer. He watches, digests, and then participates if he wants to. This was a longer digestion than most, but he was awesome — he tried two skis, one ski, the wakeboard, and the tube!
The biggest highlight was the shade! We were in it whenever we could be, and it was a huge relief from the out-of-control heat.
The kids loved the “Hot Dog”, and we even got a “no hands” from Dash!
Dash was hilarious. He was hesitant to try a few things, but when I told him he was the daredevil of the family, he would always get right out and try!
But the true daredevil just might be Pippi! She loved the Hot Dog, and wanted to go again and again.
She got Scout to take her on another ride.
Grandma and Grandpa were troopers, with a full day on the boat — I think it was over 4 hours!
Pippi took over on the controls a few times, which made her very happy.
The kids were loving “Booty Drops” where they just jumped off the boat as it was going.
All of my kids, but especially Navy loved the shore, where she collected about every shell there, and then played in the clay for hours.
She even made a footprint in the morning, that had dried by that night.
Cliff jumping was a highlight — here they are scouting everything out, but they got much higher than this.
Micah got in a sweet ride, but he let us all sleep in and missed the perfect morning glass.
Anything refreshing was a highlight — like this juicy watermelon.
And most of all….the biggest highlight of them all…was the air-conditioned rooms we got to go back to every night!
Where we could be sunblock-free, and cool!
Olympic Popcorn Party
It is a good view.
Four bathed kids downing homemade popcorn, and Michael Phelps ready to swim.
Not bad at all.
Photo Shoot
Nobody can imagine my excitement when I found swimsuits for all four of my kids that MATCHED!!!
Good old CrewCuts did me proud.
When we got them all, I made the kids gear up, and we went to the jetty for a photo shoot.
And what I got is one of my favorite pictures to date!
With the rocks being uneven, a lot of people-watching, the waves crashing, and the wind blowing, I had to direct firmly so that they were all looking in the direction of the camera.
Obviously, the stars aligned for this picture.
Because, let me show you what happened when I wasn’t directing:
Dash was looking somewhere else, while the big kids were teasing the littles.
Everyone tried their best to look good….Scout and Navy were modeling, while Dash was “getting set” and Pippi was sticking her tongue out.
Dash thought the “running position” was a good pose, while the others were watching the waves.
When I vetoed the running pose, Dash tried the “Superman”.
But I vetoed that one too.
So he vetoed my picture taking, and took off and started climbing all over the rocks instead.
Meanwhile, Navy asked for a few single shots with her famous “leg out” stance.
And Scout was trying to navigate the rocks while holding Pippi.
Then Scout called them to the harbor side, where he was pointing out some cool stuff, and I got a decent candid.
I quickly told them to turn around to see the blood from my boo boo (my tactic for them to all turn around fast), and started snapping.
Amazingly enough, Dash got into the “karate chop” position faster than I could click.
When I finally scolded him to just stand normally for the pictures, he said “OK mommy, I will”.
Then I counted to three for another, and Dash timed it perfectly…
…for the “booty shot”!
You can’t even imagine how hard my kids were laughing at this point.
I finally called it a day, and was really glad that out of a bazillion pictures, I got one that I really like.
The Champs!
I took the kids to see Micah’s championship game tonight.
It was them versus their rivals…and it was intense.
But I am pleased to announce, that this bunch of hooligans …
Took home the trophy!!!
It was such a fun night filled with awesome moments.
But the most awesome moment came when the kids all went to bed, and we happened upon Dash with a champion medal around his neck.
That little Dashy might be the biggest champ of them all.
In A Row
Not much beats four kids with ice cream, all lined up in a row.
Especially because their ice cream allowed me to run into a pop up shop to do a little browsing.
Olympics Party!
I told the kids to get dressed in red, white and blue for the opening ceremonies of the Olympics, and I would provide red, white and blue treats for the occasion.
I delivered.
And they delivered — Navy delivering the best outfit of the night.
Beach After Beach
Today was the last day of Junior Guards for Scout and Navy.
So I took the other two down to watch their last minutes, and then we stayed at the beach to play for a bit.
These four were having a blast exploring.
I love to see them all working in sync with one another.
And when they parted ways, Scout went straight to the waves.
While Dash discovered sand crabs.
Navy played chase with Pippi, and provided a ton of belly laughs for the Pips.
And then they reconvened to all bury Navy.
The only person I know who has ever been buried all the way to her nose!
