Pick Up Buds

Even though Dash’s pick up is right in the middle of Pippi’s nap time, I can’t resist the little girl who begs to get her brother from school.

When we walk in, she always does two things.
She says, “Come on mom…let’s walk in the shade”.
And then she runs around the corner to make sure that Dash sees her first!
And then those two walk out hand in hand.
img_4245-2016-09-09-at-13-10-36.jpg
And hand in hand they go…as she serenades him the whole way back to the car with made up songs. Today’s song went, “I love my Dashy….he is my best friend. He is my best friend! And I am so cute, but Dashy is my best friend”.She gets a lot of staring, as she belts her little heart out to her Dashy!

Her PackPack

this girl doesn’t surprise me anymore!  This morning, she woke up and went on the big girl patty by herself.  then she went and found herself a musical instrument.  And finally, she got her “packpack” on that was filled full of goodies.

Serenading Pips

Pippi can’t wait to pick up Dash every day. And when she sees him, she holds his hand and serenades him the whole way back to the car with made up songs. Today’s song went, “I love my Dashy….he is my best friend. He is my best friend! And I am so cute, but Dashy is my best friend”.

She gets a lot of staring, as she belts her little heart out to her Dashy!

Back To School Night ‘16

Micah and I had to split up to catch both Navy and Scout’s classrooms for Back to School night this year.
I hit up Scout’s class, because he is our special little boy that needs some good monitoring at the moment.
He has two teachers who are awesome, and so motivated for their students to be great.
img_4227-2016-09-08-at-19-16-24.jpg
He has already done a ton of cool projects in Chinese — like this self portrait.
I wasn’t sure which one he was (the names are written in Chinese), but saw the brand “Native” on the shoes, and knew exactly which one he was!
I should have known by the sloppy coloring!
img_4235-2016-09-08-at-19-23-27.jpg
And in English, he made this cool self portrait that was full of adjectives that he feels describe him.
I personally liked “willing” and “talented”.
But it was “self-confident” that is the dead ringer for Scout’s personality.
-
When Micah visited Navy’s classroom, he said she does impeccable work.  And that her desk is spotless.  And that she has the nicest handwriting!
Nice job Navy!
As a tradition, the kids write the parents a note, and after reading it, the parents write a note back to their kids.  When Scout started out in school, as a special treat, we started leaving a $1 bill, for them to buy something at lunch.  This year, Scout wrote in his note, “Mom and Dad….please don’t forget to leave me my dollar”.  Unfortunately for Scout and Navy, we didn’t have any dollars.  But fortunately for Scout and Navy, we did have two $5 bills!  So they really lucked out this year — even it was a little too expected!

Alice in Wonderland

After hours and hours of make believe, made up songs, and impromptu dancing this morning for me and Nonnie…Nonnie knew she NEEDED her very own princess dress.  (Probably, also in part because she wakes up each day and says, “I a princess”!)
So out of all of the dresses, this one suited her liking the best, and she spent the next hour walking up and down the mall in her new princess attire, and her flashing shoes!
And a grin from ear to ear.

3 Arch

The beach really works for me, when I sit next to Britni in the shade all afternoon.  And as I sit, I watch all four of my kids play with a ton of their friends who are also there.  And in the background of my kids, I watch Micah play Smashball with some guys.  When all of my appendages are having a good time, i am having a great time.

And to top it off, my kids loved the watermelon eating contest, egg toss, and races that 3 Arch does for Labor Day.
My favorite two stories of the day…
#1 - When we were walking up the dreaded 3 Arch stairs, Scout came over to me, and took my chair away from me so that he could carry it.  And when I was half way up, he came back down to get the rest of my loot, to lighten my load.
#2 - As Dash and Pippi were walking up, Pippi asked Dash, “Dash, will you hold my hand on our way up”?    He said back to her, “Sure Pippi.  I will hold it, and I will catch you if you fall”.
I hope those words resonate in her ears forever!

Costume Kids

I love when the kids raid the costumes.
I just sit and watch their imaginations go nuts.
And with Pippi now in t he mix, it is especially hilarious.

Pippi “the princess” thought she was hot stuff, when Navy was holding her train!
img_4176-2016-09-05-at-09-22-46.jpg
But she looked a little sour, when “Dash Prince Charming” jumped in the photo.
(How classic are her buck teeth facial expressions!)

Pippi, the ballerina, went for a quick outfit change, and had her dad stuff her long toes into some short high-heeled shoes.
She treated us to a dancing number, that blew our socks off!

The final costumes of the morning, were Navy the Shadow, Dash the Dragon-Dash, and Pippi the Homeless Bag Lady.

Before Church Photo Shoot

If these three handsome men were a singing group, I would call them the “Three Suits”.
Scout wore his new suit for the first time today, and Dash insisted on wearing his own suit — and they both matched Micah in his new custom-made suit.
All three were looking sharp today!
img_4155-2016-09-04-at-08-56-17.jpg
As did our cute girls in their matching tops.
img_4159-2016-09-04-at-08-56-32.jpg
As didn’t their mother — but I got all of them (minus dad) ready — hair, outfits, teeth, etc., so I get a pass!

John Williams

img_4120-2016-09-02-at-19-43-41.jpg
I got tickets for Micah, to go and see his favorite composer in concert.
img_4119-2016-09-02-at-19-34-10.jpg
It was at the Hollywood Bowl, and it was the funnest night.
Our seats were great.
We had great snacks along.
We were on a date — just us!
It was a great night.
But what made it really amazing, was John Williams.  I am sold on him, after tonight.
img_4141-2016-09-02-at-22-14-57.jpg
He is a musical genius, and put on a great performance alongside the L.A. Philharmonic Symphony, with two encores and scores from StarWars, Superman, E.T., etc.  It was amazing to see what he has put together in his lifetime — which is basically any famous piece of music out of a movie!
But out of every amazing thing I saw tonight, the most amazing thing was found in my bag.
img_4116-2016-09-02-at-19-28-50.jpg
I was so impressed that Micah remembered a rag for dirty fingers after snacks. (He is known to always need/but usually have a million napkins on hand.)  but when I asked if he brought his own personal napkin, he corrected me…apparently it was a “tear rag”.
Bah Hah Hah!

Chivalry

img_4115-2016-09-02-at-16-11-29.jpg
Not a time goes by, that when I stop for gas, Micah doesn’t jump out to pump it for me.
Chivalry is NOT dead, says the girl driving.
Wink wink.
But seriously, I really do love that he does it for me.
