Micah and I had to split up to catch both Navy and Scout’s classrooms for Back to School night this year.
I hit up Scout’s class, because he is our special little boy that needs some good monitoring at the moment.
He has two teachers who are awesome, and so motivated for their students to be great.
He has already done a ton of cool projects in Chinese — like this self portrait.
I wasn’t sure which one he was (the names are written in Chinese), but saw the brand “Native” on the shoes, and knew exactly which one he was!
I should have known by the sloppy coloring!
And in English, he made this cool self portrait that was full of adjectives that he feels describe him.
I personally liked “willing” and “talented”.
But it was “self-confident” that is the dead ringer for Scout’s personality.

When Micah visited Navy’s classroom, he said she does impeccable work. And that her desk is spotless. And that she has the nicest handwriting!
Nice job Navy!

As a tradition, the kids write the parents a note, and after reading it, the parents write a note back to their kids. When Scout started out in school, as a special treat, we started leaving a $1 bill, for them to buy something at lunch. This year, Scout wrote in his note, “Mom and Dad….please don’t forget to leave me my dollar”. Unfortunately for Scout and Navy, we didn’t have any dollars. But fortunately for Scout and Navy, we did have two $5 bills! So they really lucked out this year — even it was a little too expected!
