Navy had a blast at the craft tables, during her daddy-daughter luau. Micah said she was meticulous in her crafting, and that she came out with the best stuff.
These sun glasses were her favorite. She glued every flower on.
And not only did she make a pair for herself…she made a pair for her sister!
Pippi was so stoked!
After the gift giving, Navy introduced Pippi all morning, as the “winner” of the contests.
Not sure what contests they were, but Pippi was happy to have taken first place!
Tonight was the Daddy/Daughter luau!
Navy and Micah had an absolute blast, and Micah came home and gave me the minute by minute play by play. I actually think they might have shut the whole place down.
It all started with the invite from Micah:
When Navy said YES, we had to drum up a Hawaiian outfit for her.
I told Navy and Sophie (our neighbor) to go and find me enough flowers to make a lei. They came back with this whole tree branch, from who knows where. I literally had the perfect amount of flowers for a lei, and another for her head.
Her daddy delivered them in their refrigerated bags — right before the dance.
I’ll have to admit — I was very pleased with my work.
Not bad for a novice. And good thing I took “lei making” in Hawaii last month!
With both gussied up in their Hawaiian get ups, they both looked awesome.
Navy was on cloud nine!
Then as a perfect gentleman, Daddy got her door, and like an embarrassed little girl, she ran around to the other side of the car!
I quickly went over to talk to her about acting like the perfect lady…and according to Micah, she was perfect the rest of the night!
I am so glad they had a great time .. and even more glad that these two adore each other.
Micah broke out the DDR today, and there was a neighborhood showdown! But I am pleased to report — Micah still took first place. Just like in the olden days!
I was really enjoying watching my demure caped-astronaut waltz through the room while softly singing.
I wasn’t enjoying watching Dash bring out the crazy in that same astronaut.
I told them to go fly to space in another room.
Even though we don’t get to see him for a few weeks because the Brockbanks are touring Europe, I just had to FaceTime Cade within minutes of him being released as a missionary! I called Doey’s phone, and got to talk to him, and it was awesome! But even more awesome, was seeing he and his parents hug for the first time — after two years of a major sacrifice!
Welcome home Cade!
We are so thrilled to have you back.
Navy has been so rad lately, I put together a little special date/craft night with her.
We had embossing powder, glue pens, the heater…and got started.
She decided to make thank you cards for her teachers, and this was our favorite — so it was definitely for Mrs. Mainprize.
It got late, so I sent her to bed, and told her she could write in it in the morning.
But when I went to turn off her light, I saw that she and Dash had extended the night…and she had written her note. It was pretty sweet.
The writing must have exhausted both of them, because I think Dash fell asleep right after he put the note on the table.
When Micah was helping out a neighbor with her math, I had visions of our future high-schoolers. I pride myself on being smart. But I also pride myself on having a bad memory….so Babe– math is gonna have to be some special time between you and our kids in all of those future years.
I have acquired a new helper in the kitchen. Her specialty is salads. Not only do I love the extra help….i LOVE that she has learned the rule of thumb in the kitchen…CLEAN AS YOU GO!
Her salads are great. Her next endeavor — homemade salad dressing.
Guess who is ten?
It was a mellow Sunday celebrating our first kid in the double digits.
WOW!
How has it been 10 years?
Fidgit spinners are all the rage at the moment, so he was pretty pumped when he opened one that had LED lights on it!
He got a rad present from his little sis.
And the firework candle never disappoints.
Happy birthday big boy.
This past year, you have literally become more confident (didn’t think that was possible), more defiant, and more argumentative.
But you still crawl into bed with your mama each morning, and we cuddle for a few minutes while we talk about important things, so I’ll still put up with you.
I love, love, love you.
Your good as the very best.
Your naughty is really annoying.
Lucky me that you’re mine, and have been teaching me lessons all along these last ten years.
I love you to death!
Scout had his fourth grade Gold Rush day today. It was so cool, and really well done. He said he needed a costume, so I got him all geared up, and he said that all of the kids at school said he looked like a lumberjack! I told him to tell them , “I rush for gold during the day, and cut down trees at night.” He didn’t tell them that.
He was part of “Welsh-Fongo” the town’s bank.
(I can see why people said he looked like a lumberjack.)
The day started out, when they were all looking for gold. Scout found a ton on the hillside. Then the kids all had to turn it in to the bank and get real money for it. Scout somehow ended up with the most in the class. (Go figure. Maybe it had something to do with him handling the money.) Then they got to go and buy things from the different stores that the kids put up.
When Scout found the fresh berries and cream stand, I think he single handedly kept them in business.
It was a really fun day for all of the kids, but I think Scout may have loved it the very most. I think he thought he was the Bill Gates of ‘49.
