Good walk…and Scummy Sees Signs Everywhere!!

p1010169.JPG

I feel good after my 4+ mile walk this morning.  I met up with a couple friends and their kids, and we had a good combination - good pace, good kids, good conversation and good weather!

One of the topics that came up in our conversation was how Scummy wants to get a little poodle pretty soon.  Too bad that Jenny and I were there to tell her without sugarcoating it–that she is ridiculous!  Funny thing is…about ten minutes into our walk Scummy started seeing signs that prove that she needs her dog!  First, she looked over the edge of the sidewalk and saw a lump of tar that looked exactly like a black poodle!  It really did, and we were all cracking up.  Then a bit later, we hear ferocious barking from the house up the hill from us.  I report that there were 3 poodles freaking out at us — and one happened to be a little apricot toy poodle - exactly what Scummy wants!

Then in classic Scummy fashion, she started pointing out things that were “signs”, but to me they were more like “stretches”.  We had a great time, and I will admit that the signs were a little freaky!  Scummy, I think you should go and get your poodle today, so we don’t have a poodle fall out of the sky in front of us on our next walk!  After our walk, we all treated ourselves to a Jamba Juice (which probably defeats the purpose), and headed our seperate ways.  That is definitely my idea of excercising…having fun while you do it!

Poor guy has “Ugly Crying Disease”

p1010156.JPG

Of all of the features Scout got from me, the last one I wanted him to get was “ugly crying disease”!  You know how some people shed some tears, wipe them away and then go on with their day as usual.  If even one tear enters my ducts, I am puffy, red and hideous for the rest of the day.  Worse than that is when I actually have a good cry.  Depending on how “good” that cry is, I can be out of commission for up to two days.  Poor little guy!

Just call me chef…

For a very long time, I have wanted to sign up for cooking classes.  I finally signed up for a couple at the Laguna Culinary Arts Academy, and am hooked.  I went for the first time last night and spent over three hours in total bliss.  I know everyone always says that they love food…but I really LOVE food.  I love to see what ingredients work well together, what methods are used, and what a professional vs. the home cook uses.  Last night I learned all about meats and sauces, and I am signed up for pasta sauces in a few weeks.  Very fun!

Weighing in at 15lbs 7oz…

Scout Kei Denison has grown almost a complete pound in a week and a half.  I took him in for his 4 month check up and he weighed 14ibs 9oz.  Yesterday I took him in because he had a rash and weird bumps on him and he has been acting really funny lately.  First off, he has been fussy and does these low gurgle/screams like he is furious which he never has done before.  Second, he has been constipated instead of his totally regular self.  Lastly, he has been so ridiculously hungry that I feel faint throughout the day if I don’t eat pretty often.

The doctor explained that it was nothing serious, and to keep an eye on certain things to see if they get worse.  He also explained that the binging was due to him growing so much in the past weeks.  This morning, Micah and I were playing Scrabble -or should I say I was creaming him in Scrabble- and Scout was with us making these low toned screams again.  Micah was holding him (in his usual way - like a football), and walked over to the TV.  On his way I saw out of the corner of my eye something that resembled a waterfall.  Let’s just say that four days of food ended up on the slate floor.  Micah yelled…GET SOMETHING!  So I did…I ran for the video camera!  Needless to say, we have one happy and unconstipated little boy on our hands again!

Labor Day Festivities

We had a fun day of family and swimming.  Scout loved the water, but was totally wiped out by the end of the day.

We WON!!!!!

Can I just say 20K…..

Tristen is as bad as I am

Remember how I was not allowed to take my mom to her surgery???  Well, Tristen was appointed and screwed up!  She drove my mom over at 6:00am, walked her in and then walked right out to take a nap in her car.  The kicker is that she wanted a “good” nap, so she turned her cell phone OFF!

After fully recovering, nobody could get ahold of my mom’s “contact person”, so the nurse had to come in and ask if she had been dropped off by herself again.  She disgustingly answered, “No…this is the sister of the girl who dropped me off in the street last time!”  I guess it is your turn Megan or Trilby.

Happy 4 Months Big Boy!

Weighing in at 14 lbs. 9 oz…..Scout is four months old!  He currently is twice as hungry as he usually is, he can kind of scoot.  As long as he can get his foot caught on something and push off, he definitely has the strength to get places.  He also is getting more of a personality.  He smiles and coos quite a bit now, and he has a full blown screaming tantrum if he is hungry and can see his food in sight.  He can also stand completely up with my fingers as grip for a very long time. (He has actually done this for a while.)  He is so fun, and a great sidekick to always have along!
