Just a group of cute little girls who dominate any team that gets in their way.

Of course the Happy Birthday sign was up.
img_5641-2014-10-04-at-08-05-30.jpg
Obviously, a breakfast treat was in order — with a candle.
img_5637-2014-10-04-at-08-04-27.jpg
She was mesmerized.

But dug in.
img_5682-2014-10-04-at-17-23-01.jpg
In her honor, we had some friends over for swimming and ice cream.

And obviously a present or two.
But the real party comes tomorrow when the cousins come to town!

Happy Birthday Pippity Dippity Doo.
Since I was the one who blew out your candle, my wish on your birthday is that you stay little forever!

UnHero Story

Dash had been a nightmare all day long.
Tantruming it up was his first reaction to EVERYTHING!
I was so fed up, because there really was no explanation.
So as soon as I did pick ups, I was going to send him to bed for the afternoon.
Then the AHA moment…
I picked Scout up from school, and he said, “Hey Mom….did you hear about my Hero story this morning?”
I said I hadn’t.
He proceeded, “Well, I got up at 3:02, and went in and started watching cartoons. (He recently learned the ins and outs of using the remotes, and has gone to town.)  Then a little while later, I heard Dash crying from a bad dream.  So I went in and got him, and I cuddled him and let him watch cartoons with me.”
WHAT?!?!
Why was Scout up at 3:02?
And why the heck did he think it was okay to get Dash up at that heinous hour?
-
I proceeded with, “Scout, that was really nice.  But there are some new ground rules….there is no television before school…ever.  And if you want to get Dash up while it is still dark outside, you need permission.”
Thank you hero story.
Or was that horror story.

Sideways Sitter

img_4188-2014-10-03-at-12-43-42.jpg
Whether Pippi is in her stroller, car seat or grocery cart, she is a sideways sitter.  She always tries to wiggle her way to the sideways position.  She can usually do it everywhere but her car seat, and fights me to the death as I buckle her in to sit sideways.
-
I guess everyone has their things.
I am a left-foot-up-on-the-dash kind of driver.

Superhero Dash

img_5633-2014-10-02-at-07-07-40.jpg
Lately, I have been telling Dash “Superhero Dash” stories.
He begs me for more and more.
I’ll give you a little sampler:
“Once upon a time, there was this Mommy who was so tired at the end of the day.  She had stinky kids and just wanted to go to bed, but had to do homework and clean the house all night long.  But then Superhero Dash was flying around and saw her.  He swooped down and gave her a love and said, ‘you’re gorgeous, and special, and bootiful.  You’re my best friend’.  And he saved the day!”
He begs for more every time.
But when I tell him he has to wait until later to hear another one, he says to me, “Mom, I always save the day.”
And honestly and truthfully….he does.

First Piano Lessons

Mr. Holt came by for my kid’s first-ever piano lessons.
It was kind of an exciting day for me.
I peeked around the corner to see how it was going.
img_4181-2014-10-02-at-13-59-45.jpg
Scout seemed really interested and did a really nice job paying attention.
img_4183-2014-10-02-at-14-15-47.jpg
Navy seemed to be listening a bit, all while interjecting her own stories.
-
We concluded that Scout was ready and willing, and that Navy was going to have to wait a year.

Pajama Day

img_5632-2014-10-02-at-07-07-29.jpg
I always get excited when it is a dress-up day at school.
And Pajama/Bring-Your-Stuffed-Animal-Day is no exception.
So I pulled out her size 3 french pajamas that I love the best, and we got her “Sheepy” and she was set.
Clearly she was excited.
And just to make sure I still have those pajamas when Pippi is five years old, I told her to always sit on Sheepy when she has to sit in “line-up” on the black asphalt.
And I report….those things came back in almost perfect condition!

One Year Old Present

What do you get a one year old who has everything?
I wasn’t sure, until I was walking down Costco Lane and heard Pippi panting like a dog.
When I looked over to see what she saw, there was a rack of furry animal blanket/pillow sets.
And when I saw the price tag — $10.99…I didn’t resist.
img_4179-2014-10-01-at-11-01-34.jpg
When I put it in the cart, Pippi put her head on it over and over and over.
I tested her once, and put the grey bunny in, and she tossed it out.
And then I tested her with putting it back on the shelf and strolling away, and she yelled at the top of her lungs to let me know she didn’t accept the crazy move.
So the yellow duck it is for this little almost-one year old!

Pippi’s First Birthday Invites

When you realize your daughter’s first birthday is less than a week away, it is time to utilize your limited Adobe Illustrator knowledge, print up some invites, add confetti and address them.
And then walk down to the mailbox, and hope people show up!
