Tacky Afternoon

Since our school is so close to the Tackys, there are random days we stop by, and don’t leave until it’s dark.
This was one of those days….
img_4264-2014-10-09-at-17-45-31.jpg
It was a long afternoon with the Tackys, Bullochs, Packers and Hemeons in the back of the new Ford.
img_4272-2014-10-09-at-20-02-23.jpg
And then Scummy and I took our crazies to IHOP for dinner.

And by the time we headed home, everyone was wiped….but none more than the little pumpkin who has maybe never seen so much action in one day!

Floor Bed

After these two are put to bed, I never know what I am going to find when I go back to kiss them while they sleep.
This night, I found one of their famous “floor beds”.
And how Pippi’s duck - that was in her bed when I put her to sleep - ended up in there, I will never know.

Disaster Dash

This kid wanted me to check out his “new necklace”.
I told him to put that necklace back under the couch before it got broken.

Scout was all too excited to show me that I did too little, too late.

The New Big Red Ball

img_5752-2014-10-07-at-14-57-20.jpg
To my mother’s dismay, guess what old-time favorite toy has made another appearance.
I am SO excited!
I’ve always loved the big red ball.
Entertainment for hours.
Fits all four kids, and then some.
Sparks imagination.
And the best thing of all……
Easy clean up!

Rapid Teething

img_5745-2014-10-07-at-09-01-26.jpg
Pippi is working on her 6th tooth in one month.
She went from nothing to five and a half.
The poor little thing.
And to be honest, she hasn’t been that bad of a teether.
I don’t think I have given her any medicine, because her drug of choice is my arms.
img_5749-2014-10-07-at-14-15-33.jpg
And when my arms are full, she happily takes Navy’s arms.

Nurse’s Office

You can imagine my surprise when I went in into the school office for something, and Angel -the office lady- asked me if I was aware that Scout had been in to see the nurse every day since school had started.
Surprise that I hadn’t been contacted about it yet….yes.
Surprise that he was written the passes….yes.
Surprise that my son was trying to work the system again….no.
-
I thanked her proving it to me by showing me the nurses log.
Like I needed proof.
-
And then I had a small chat with Scout.
It was brief and to the point.
It went a little like this….
“Scout, cut the crap.  Unless you are throwing up or bleeding profusely, you are NOT to go to the nurses office.”
-
Three days later, I checked in with Angel again and am happy to report that all of Scout’s medical woes, suddenly went by the wayside.
Mission accomplished.
-
And it is a good thing it was all over, because when I found the crumpled up hall pass that had Scout reporting to the nurse’s office because of “something in teeth”, I could have gone nuts!
img_4244-2014-10-06-at-17-27-23.jpg
But because it was all in the past, I just looked at Scout, and we both laughed at how ridiculous it was.
Sidenote: Have I ever told the story of when I was in the fourth grade and had a long-term sub, Mrs. Fonseca.  I was determined to go home for being sick, so I visited the nurse’s office every day for about 8 days.  They kept sending me back to class (even after I had stuck the thermometer under hot water!).  But on the 9th day, with only an hour left of school, they called my mom to come and get me.  And then miraculously, I never got sick again.
Scout comes by it innocently.
I just wonder who gave the “working the system” gene to me?!

Pippi’s First Birthday II

img_5694-2014-10-05-at-16-00-26.jpg
Pippi turned one all over again today!
The cousins came to town, and we did the real-deal celebrating.
img_5720-2014-10-05-at-16-40-42.jpg
There was cake.
(Although I was a lame mom and only gave my one-year-old a cupcake to save on the mess.)
img_5696-2014-10-05-at-16-01-33.jpg
Presents.
img_5703-2014-10-05-at-16-06-12.jpg
img_5707-2014-10-05-at-16-08-52.jpg
Personally wrapped by the olders.

I focused on stuffed animals for this little girl who seems to love anything furry and soft.
When she opened her slippers and her duckie blanket/pillow, she huffed a bunch because she wanted them, and then laid her head on them with a big smile.

The Cliffords nailed their “Spot-It” gift, as everyone gathered around to play a bunch of rounds — including the Pips.
img_5738-2014-10-05-at-17-10-26.jpg
But Megan’s gift might have been the topper.
Pippi walked and walked with her new musical lion walker.
She got pretty good by the end.
(Although I am not forcing the walking issue on my last baby!)
img_5726-2014-10-05-at-16-48-56.jpg
Then there was the anti-climactic cupcake!
Although she did love her messy freedom.
img_5710-2014-10-05-at-16-11-57.jpg
But who can blame me!
Look how spotless clean she was just a few minutes after the cake.
-
Happy Birthday to the sweetest and happiest little girl out there.

And to the cutest girl who manages to make the most unattractive facial expressions on earth!
I love, love, love you!

Pippi First Bloody Lip

img_5687-2014-10-05-at-10-27-04.jpg
Poor Pips took a face-first dive, right into the family room chair.
Her first bloody lip was so sad/cute at the same time.

Conference and Kids

It doesn’t get much better than conference next to my husband with the kids gathered around.

In Trouble

img_5658-2014-10-04-at-08-14-14.jpg
Dash’s reactions to when he is in trouble have evolved over the last six months.
Before, I would say, “Dash, did you hit your sister?”
He would respond with, “I won’t do it again.  NEVER. NEVER NEVER……EVER!”
And he was intently yelling those last words.
Now days, it goes like this.
“Dash, did you hit your sister?”
“Noooooo.”
“Dash….you better not tell me a lie! Did you hit your sister?”
“Yeah.”
And as soon as I go into his reprimand, he interrupts me with, “Mom….I love you.  You are my best friend.  You are gorgeous.”
The evolution has been bittersweet.
He has definitely become a little white liar.
BUT….he has sweetened up my ego at the same time!
