Family Night

cimg0094.JPG
Last summer we were indoctrinated into the San Onofre summer family nights.  This past monday night was our first trip down this year.  We met up with our friends -Megan and Nathan Harris, the Storys, the Smiths, and the good old Goodsells who put it on.  Sometimes we bring dogs, and all of the stuff to make S’mores.  And it wasn’t until last year that I learned to like S’mores - thanks to Micah’s impeccable touch with the marshmallows. Last year, Micah and I would ride our bikes down (about 25 miles) for exercise, and Trilby and her girls would be waiting there with food and a car for our ride back.  This year -so far- Micah rides down and I meet him with the car and the baby.  This was Scout’s first official bonfire.  He slept most of the time, and next time I need to remember a blanket instead of a towel, but he loved it!  I think he thought the fire was especially cool, because I caught him staring at it a few times.

Classic Micah!

Micah was watching Scout last night, and he was a bit fussy.  Knowing how settled and good he is in my baby carrier, he found it and wrapped Scout up in it.  I will admit that the wrap is a little tricky to put on, and Micah couldn’t figure it out, so he reinvented the wheel!  When I came in and saw the little guy’s arm and foot sticking out I started to crack up.  I asked if he had fallen asleep like he normally does, but Micah said he was wide awake and he must love the “new way”.  I think it was more along the lines of he was amazed that his daddy really thought he could get all of his work done while I was in this funky position AND why didn’t mom teach him the RIGHT way?!

Buddies!

Trey is in town for “Bella’s Bootcamp” and has become total buddies with Scout.  He always says, “Your baby is so good, he never cries. And he is SO cute!”  I didn’t really have close cousins growing up, so it is fun for my boy to have so many that adore him!

Scout’s Timing

cimg0681.jpg

I think I am a pretty good mom, but there is one thing I can improve on.  Every time I feed the little guy and have a burp cloth - nothing happens.  Every time I don’t have something for protection - he knows it and takes advantage.  I guess I should be more careful or I guess I would learn, but I actually think it is funny every time it happens.  I am convinced this guy knows exactly when the funniest moments are to spit up, explode in his diaper, and aim and go potty.  It might be coincidence or timing, but I bet it’s not!

Enthralled

Scout absolutely loves this new thing Nonnie got him.  The first few times, he had a short attention span, but recently he absolutely loves it.   The lights go on and off, and the music plays…and Scout tries to talk to it.  He will hang out under it for a good thirty minutes - which he has only done once because he is held every other second of his life!

Best Friends

s-and-s.jpg

Skylar and Scout have become fast best friends.  The second she gets home from school -or anywhere for that matter- she immediately asks, “Where’s the baby?”  Then she HAS to hold him no matter who else has him, if he is sleeping, if he is eating, etc.  The few times she can’t hold him because others are, or he is sleeping….she just looks me straight in the eyes and says, “I thought about him ALL day.  Can’t I just give him a hug?”  I say a “small hug”, and next thing I know she is walking around with him, rocking him, singing to him, playing school with him, etc.  I love that she adores him so much, and am glad to have a great little helper!

He is Talking - Kind of!

This little guy will stare at whomever is talking to him and make mouth movements and try to talk.  He has gotten some sounds out, and he really is trying to have a mini conversation.  That may be a slight exageration, but he is definitely close to saying some words!

Home From Vegas

Scout and I had a great time in Vegas!  We hung out by the pool, went on walks to the park, went to fun restaurants, played with the boys, etc.  On our ride home, Scout was a bit fussy on and off.  I think he had a bit of a bad tummy, but we made it alright and the silver lining is….that night he slept from 8:30 pm to 5:00 am the next morning!

Everyone was SO excited to see him.  He was literally mauled the second he got in the door.  We had a great time, but are glad to be back!

Baby Bjorn = Lifesaver!

For my shower, Micah’s sister Bree got me a Baby Bjorn.  We used it for the first time over the weekend, and I love it!  Scout is so easy to take everywhere in it, and he is totally comfortable in it.  He cruises around happily and usually ends up falling asleep in it as well.  All of my sisters have had them and told it is a must have — so thanks Bree for the perfect gift!

Some New Outfits!

I am so excited….Scout finally has a couple more outfits he can wear!  I have been rotating between about four newborn outfits, but he has finally grown into his smaller 3 month old clothing.  At his one month appointment, he was 9 lbs. 6 ounces, so he is one growing boy.  Hallelujiah!
