Hang Loose!

cimg0899.jpg

Scout is taking his 2nd road trip ever.  I am on my way to Utah with my family, with a three day stop in St. George.  The car ride has been great, and Scout is being very good.  As you can see, he just “hangs loose” the whole time!

Bath Time

Look how cute Skilly is when she bathes Scout.  Every morning this summer she has begged to bathe him,and I finally snapped a picture of how cute she is when she does it!  I have to admit…she is very good, and has it down to a science.  Skilly gets SO happy whenever she gets to help out, and I think Scout has literally turned into her real life doll.

Which Personality?

cimg0841.jpg

I keep trying to figure out if Scout has Micah’s personality or mine.  A lot of the time Scout is very serious and stoic…a real thinker like Micah.  Other times, I think he is devious, a tease and funny like me.  (or at least I like to think I am funny).

This morning my mom and I spent about thirty minutes trying to get the little guy to smile.  We did all of the tricks up our sleeves like patty cake, “the yellow submarine” song, talking to him in a baby voice,  playing peek-a-boo, etc.  He just looked at us and observed silently, so I figured he must be tired and exhausted.  It was a little shy of his nap time, but it seemed like the obvious conclusion.  My mom got him situated on her tummy to fall asleep, and looked at him and said, “You are the cutest thing in the whole wide world!”  Scout looked right up at her and gave her the BIGGEST smile.  This is a day where I think he definitely got my teasing trait!  I absolutely love it!

Ryan - the Baby Whisperer.

cimg0882.jpg

Ryan came into town for the fourth of July and has not put the baby down!  He has the history of being the baby whisperer, which started when Skylar was the worst baby in history.  (The girl never stopped crying until Ryan or Trilby was holding her.)  Scout loves him, and looks at him and smiles and smiles…and even laughs!

We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Scout is a little man after his momma’s heart!  I would like to say it was his first taste of ice cream (at two months), but he has had a few before…which is why I knew he would love it.  After tasting it, he just kept licking his lips for about a minute.  The first time he tried it was when he was being fussy one day.  I stuck the end of his plug in some and gave it to him…and not only did it stop the fussing, but he was sold!

Scout Wins for Most Popular!

enamored.jpg

I really think Scout is the most loved baby around!  Whenever anyone comes to my house, the first question is, “Where’s the baby?”  I especially love how every cousin of his is enamored by him.  You would think that because he is the 20th grandchild, the attitude would be, “been there, done that”, but it is the complete opposite.  I actually am to the point where I hand out Veto’s - which means you can’t hold him for the rest of the day.  Skylar got one the other day because I kept telling her to stop kissing him during his nap because she would wake him up.  About three minutes later, there he was with his bright eyes open!  She was SO mad about the veto…but she learned her little lesson!  Now she only does it when I am not looking.

Scout Laughed!

Skilly is the proud owner of Scout’s first laugh at 2 months and 1 week!  My mom is SO jealous, but it came after Skilly played with him and read to him for about two hours.  Nice job Skilly!

Sorry Skilly - Spit Up Stinks!

cimg0817.jpg

We went to Pines Park for our Rock and Roll Dana Point Concert.  Micah, Skilly Scout and I went early to reserve our spot and set up.  Skylar was watching her best friend Scout and lifting him up in the air like Superman.  Too bad for her that his tummy wasn’t settled completely after eating and he did a number all over her face about four times in a row.  The picture doesn’t even do it justice as her face was completely covered, and she got a big chunk in her mouth. Poor girl, but afterward she did say, “It tasted like chocolate milk.”  How—I am not quite sure!??

The concert was really fun.  The weather was beautiful with a nice breeze.  We had great food.  The music was fun with familiar songs I actually knew some of the words to. (At least I knew how to spell R-E-S-P-E-C-T!) And we had a great spot right in the front.  We went with my family, and our friends Doug and Mary Jolley met us down there.  These concerts make summer so fun!

Happy 2 Months Baby Scout!

cimg0793.jpg cimg0778.jpg

He is already 2 months old - hence the 2 on the sleave of  his outfit - and I can’t believe it!  Time really does fly!  We celebrated by playing patty cake, which he loves! We then went for a fun dinner at my latest favorite hot spot…Gelson’s market’s salad bar.  And we ended the night with a present from Nonnie.  A darling Splendid outfit from Fairytales in my favorite color on him…baby blue.  Happy birthday you handsome little devil! (my photography is horrible…I know.  But I wanted one of pattycake and him smiling on his B-day).

Time for Shots!

The poor little guy had his two month appointment.  We found out that he is exactly in the 50th percentile, is 23 inches, and now weighs in at 12 lbs.  The sad part is that he had to get his vaccinations today that made him pretty sad! Four of them were by shot, and one was oral.  He was really good with Dr. Carruth’s sidekick Dr. Dyson, until his shots.  He only cried for a few seconds afterward, but notice how red his face is in the picture…obviously they weren’t his favorite!  Stinks for him that he has to go back for more at 4 and 6 months.
