Poor Navy!
In her class, there is a weekly award called the “Super Bulldog”. In order to get it, you can’t have any tardies, and all homework must be turned in for the week. On Monday, you find out if you are going to get it. Navy has been diligently trying her hardest to get this award. She never fails on the homework side, but her stinking brothers make her late at least one day each week. And Mr. DeSalvo is gnarly about their “tardy” — you can’t be in the process of sitting down…you must be completely in your seat to not be tardy.
So last week, she was going to make it! Everyone worked really hard to make sure she was there in plenty of time to get in her seat. I had to go to school last Friday morning for something, so I stopped in at the morning assembly to see the school happenings. While at the assembly, Navy waved me over and she looked like she had seen a ghost. She was frantic and pale. I asked her what the matter was, and she said, “I accidentally left my green folder on the kitchen counter. I can’t make Super Bulldog without it. If you hurry, I can still get it in time…PLEASE go get it for me!”
Poor girl forgot that I am from the school of hard knocks. So I empathetically laughed and said, “Sorry ‘Leave behind Navy’…it has finally caught up to you. I hope you get Super Bulldog next week”.
She was sooooooooooo bummed.
BUT…
DRUM ROLL PLEASE…
Leave Behind Navy, and her supportive family worked really hard the next week…
AND…
For the first time ever…we have a Super Bulldog in the house!!!!
