How rad are my kids…who will hop out whenever I see a colorful backdrop I like. Well….every kid except Pippi. Which really is ironic, because she is the aspiring model. Maybe, she is a girl who doesn’t like to share the spotlight. But bummer for you Pippi!! If you don’t like to share in this family — you just don’t get anything in this family!

Pippi’s First Solo Waterslide
I can’t even put into words the pure joy that Pippi had today on her first solo rides on a waterslide.
I also can’t put into words my joy! You’d think it was because I was seeing my littlest become independent, and having fun. But my joy came from her walking up the slide about 13 times. Each and every time, she wiggled her way into the front of the line. She did it every single time. She would just walk past everyone, scoot herself in, and then take a ride. About 8 minutes later — she took another ride. And this went on and on, until the park closed down!
The Wilk
I took my kids to the Wilk. I have a bazillion awesome memories at the Wilk.
The Wilk is where we would go as kids to eat every day, while we stayed at the campus dorms.
The Wilk is where I filled my cafeteria tray and cariied it like a waitress After it fell and shattered on the ground into a million pieces — I developed a phobia of holding cafeteria trays, that is still present today!
The Wilk is where I would meet up with Tristen for lunch during college — There was that one time when she and I had the first cell phones among our peers. I was really embarrassed to use a cell phone in the Wilk, (I thought it was pretentious) so I kind of hid it. I was calling to ask Tristen where she was, and she said she was also in the Wilk. I told her to stand up, and she was literally two tables away from me!
The Wilke is where I spent most of my college days, as the city editor of the Daily Universe (the BYU newspaper) and the KBYU anchor.
The Wilk is basically a walk down memory lane for me…so I took my kids to see it all.
They mostly liked the mural.
And Cosmo.

And then I added another memory of the Wilk that makes me love it even more!
Glowing
After a long day, the kids and I wanted to stop for sushi.
When we got there, and it was closed for the night, we were all so bummed…UNTIL…we found the raddest glowing swings and chairs!
Somehow, my kids all completely forgot that they were even hungry for an hour, while we were fooling around with the glow playground!
Temple Square ‘17
My favorite stop of any Utah trip….I present to you…”Temple Square Summer of 2017!”
All creative posing…courtesy of the kids!
A Watermelon Summer
How perfect is this photo to sum up the best days of summer!
And with Blush joining the gang, the days are even better!
Bella’s Babies
Bella begs and begs for us to come up to see her.
I know it is partly to see my kids.
But knowing the plight of momhood with young ones — I am sure it is also for the help of the cousins to her little ones.
My kids are obsessed with the babies.
They love every coo, and movement.
When asked what Pippi’s favorite thing to do with the babies…she said, “I love to go in the bath with them and help bathe them.”
Then she entertains them while they get lotioned up, and diapered…by singing into her brush/microphone!
Surfer’s Journal
I was so pleased to see that Micah made it to the cover of this month’s Surfer’s Journal. A pretty amazing accomplishment for a non-surfer!
Rope Swing ‘17
Micah introduced us to the Mona rope swings last year.
We were obviously going to return to them this year…but I thought going solo was a bit sketchy.
So we called up Cade, and were so excited when he agreed to meet us.
Scout and Dash were pretty daring, but Navy played it safe. (Probably because she had a slightly close call last year when she slipped.) Cade was rad, and kept retrieving the rope over and over.
After a while, Scout and Cade decided to head over to some bigger rope swings. When they left us, the other kids and I went back to what we thought was a boat that was community property. We got in it, then rowed out to where Cade and Scout were. Half way to our spot, we passed the two guys who took out the other community boat, and said, “How rad that these boats are here!” To which he responded…”You are actually in MY boat.”
We were dying! He must have thought we were crazy! He was pretty cool about it, and told us to take it for a while. We said we would just quickly pick up the boys, and return his boat.
As we rowed away from the owner, we were dying laughing.
And then when we finally got Cade in the boat, he was SO embarassed…but we were cracking up!
After, we treated Cade to Los Hermanos…and relived the boat stealing story over and over!
Wheat vs. Lavender
While we were driving to Provo, I was asking the kids about their favorite color combinations.
I always ask this question on our Utah road trips, because the color of wheat against the soft blue Utah sky is my top color combination.
I even made Navy get out to document the amazing duo!
As we drove, I think I had the kids convinced that wheat and blue is the #1 combo. Maybe my “OH!!! Look…there it is again! It is just so pretty. Look kids!” did the trick.
but when we got to the Lavender Fields in Mona, my little traitors switched their favorite combo to lavender and that same blue.
I see it.
I like the purple and blue — and they said that the scent makes it that much more amazing!
But can lavender make bread?
I think NOT!!!
