Birthday Kindness

This morning, on Navy’s birthday, we stopped for her to get a birthday donut.  But just as we were getting back in the car, Navy asked if she could run in and get one more.  And then she nodded in the direction of the trash can.

She ran back in to get another donut.  And with me holding her hand, (because I kind of made her), she asked, “Excuse me, would you like this donut I just bought for you?”
The man rolled over and said, “Yeah….thanks.”
And the the cutest toothless smile was beaming from ear to ear, as Navy walked back to our car.

Sea World With Dash’s Preschool

img_0638-2016-01-19-at-10-39-39.jpg
Dash was really excited to go on his preschool field trip to Sea World.  A major perk is that my mom, and Pippi got to go also.  I loved watching these two have a blast together.  Dash is honestly, the sweetest older brother.  It is like I am watching Scout and Navy all over again.

But as much as he loved hanging with his sister, he loved hanging with his buddies too.

And we really lucked out.  It was one of those morning when every single animal is out and about.  Or smashed right up against the glass.  It was a perfect day for these kids to see these animals.

And a perfect day for Dash to run around to his little heart’s content.

Navy’s Talk

Navy memorized her talk in 24 hours, and nailed it with poise, a loud voice — and even a bit of pizzazz!
It went:
Whenever I hear the words “Feast upon the scriptures”, I don’t really know what the means.  But then I remember the Thanksgiving dinner I had this year.  I didn’t just pick at it.  I didn’t kind of eat it.  NO!  I feasted upon it like it was the most delicious dinner in the whole wide world.
Now it makes sense!
When they say “feast upon the scriptures”, it means not to just look at the scriptures.  Or flip through the pages and kind of read them.  It means to feast upon them like they are the most precious things on earth!
Don’t you just love the story about Nephi building the boat to come to the promised land?  Or how about Abinadi being so brave to stand up against King Noah.  And you can’t forget about the great missionaries that the sons of Mosiah became.  They were awesome!  And I know these things, because in our family, we feast upon the scriptures.
She did such a good job, that the conductor mentioned that if we applauded in church, it deserved a round of applause.
And then the whole primary applauded.
Navy was SOOOO pleased!

Awesome job Navy.
You really did nail it.

Monster Jam ‘16

In honor of my little Dash, we couldn’t pass up Monster Jam this year!  But for some reason, Micah thought it was smarter to scalp tickets this year.  (I think we had really good luck with scalped tix last year.)  Anyway, we got there, and there was not a ticket to be had — none!  My poor kids were getting more and more deflated by the second!  But then Navy came up to me and said, “Mom, I know we will get tickets, because I just said a prayer.” (I’m not totally sure if Divine Help is there when you are doing something kind of shady?!?)  But I told her that we needed to get to work then!
My kids were classic….calling out, “Tickets… we need tickets!”
I kid you not, the show had started, and fewer and fewer people were trickling in…and still no tickets.
Navy told everyone, “Don’t worry….we will get them!”
And about a minute later, a man walked up to us and said he had some for us.  (Keep in mind that there were dozens of others looking for tickets also — and we needed 6!)
He told us he had just enough, and didn’t even charge us an arm and a leg!
And we walked in within a few minutes of the show starting.

We sat down in great seats, and were glued to an amazing spectacle of monster trucks doing their thing!

My kids loved the wave!

And I loved their matching sweatshirts!

Dash’s favorite — El Torro Loco dominated!
It even did the most amazing back flip, and the crowd went wild!

We were all in our happy place.
But nobody was in a happier place than Dash!

Navy’s Notes

img_0735-2016-01-26-at-14-19-33.jpg
Navy loves music class.  And every once in a while, she ends up with a “note” which means she did something good.  But somehow today, she hit the jackpot and came home with four notes!  Nice work Navy….but it doesn’t surprise me at all.  From every report I have ever heard, Navy is a perfect child at school.  Which isn’t much different from how she is at home.

Showering Blush

The fact that we finally were showering Tristen and Baby Blush is a miracle!  The turnout was spectacular, because I think everyone involved thought it was as big of a miracle as I did!  Congrats..and HALLELUJAH!

3 Generations

img_0520-2016-01-11-at-19-00-46.jpg
Scout is obsessed with this video where a soccer goalie has to block sudden death goals.  It is a spoof, and this goalie is so beat up by the end, he is carried off in a stretcher.  It was decently funny the first time I saw it.  But the fact that these three generations were crying from laughter, was a little ridiculous.
Especially considering that this was all their millionth time seeing it!

Citris Smiles

img_0453-2016-01-11-at-15-59-25.jpg
I caught these kids swiping our oranges off our tree.  And then Scout and Navy were trying to teach Dash and the Pips how to stuff them in their mouths for some fancy smiles.  Pippi wasn’t into it.  And Dash was convinced that his mouth was too small.

Coloring

Dash and Pippi love playing together in the mornings.
Actually, they love doing everything together in the mornings.
It is like they are on a date with each other each morning, as they play, laugh and quite honestly — destroy.
Luckily this morning, I caught the destruction before anything too bad happened.
I did my huge and dramatic “breath in” when I saw that they were up to no good.
img_0442-2016-01-11-at-10-52-46.jpg
This was Pippi’s reaction, with, “I not color on myself!”
Clearly, we need to work on our lying.

Sturdy & Pippi

I think it is interesting to see that when we hang with Sturdy and Goldi, Pippi gravitates towards Sturdy.
They play together, talk to each other, and unfortunately….get into big messes with each other.
img_0510-2016-01-10-at-19-10-32.jpg
Good thing that their mess today involved the very thing we use to clean up their messes.
I guess a soap mess could have been so much worse!
