Scout really made a doozie of himself today.
And after I assigned him sentences, that poor boy steamrolled like I’ve never seen before.
So in the end, he got himself 200 sentences.
Roughly 25 of the following:
“I will not yell at my mom.”
“I will not talk back.”
“I will not sass my mom.”
“I love Navy and will be nice.”
“I will make life peaceful.”
“I will be respectful.”
“I will not overreact.”
And ten of:
“Ten more, and I’m done!”
This boy was furious at first.
But like always, he came around, and stepped it up.
And then he worked hi magic….
And talked Navy into writing about 75 for him.
(Don’t worry, I insisted on Scout writing the one about being nice to Navy.)
In the end, it actually became quite the cute bonding experience, and they both felt really accomplished.
And the best part….they were darling with each other the rest of the day.
After a really fun, very adventurous, but very long trip….it is SOOO good to be home.
This boy woke up, got his own pen and paper (paper plate), and created his very own art piece…all without me having to lift a finger.
Again….it’s good to be home, where everyone knows where everything is, and partially takes care of themselves.
Why not stop at a few factories in the middle of a 10 hour drive?
I’m sure there are a lot of reasons, but there is one argument for a stop.
And that is the sheer enjoyment all over each of my kid’s faces.
When Scout found $40 on the ground at Pizza Factory, he knew exactly what to do. He went person to person, and asked if they had lost any money. He was almost finished when one lady walked out of the bathrooms, and she said that she had lost $40. So he kindly gave it back to her.
After praising him, and telling him how proud I was of him for just knowing what was right….we were about to leave when a lady knocked on our window.
You can imagine his excitement when he was handed a $5 bill for his honesty.
Just before Beaver, my kids started getting crazy in the car. And to nobody’s surprise, it was pretty much instigated by Scout. So I conveniently pulled off the road, to let Scout go for a quick little jog.
But when his punishment looked fun to the rest of the kids, I let them all out to let off a little steam.
And what was supposed to teach them a lesson, kind of did — as they all bonded.
When my shirtless and shoeless boys needed to use the restroom, and there was only a Walmart around, I figured….what the heck.
After almost two weeks in Utah — living out of suitcases, hauling four crazies to excitement after excitement, visiting family and friends, and staying up later than ever — this girl looks as tired as I feel.
It was love at first sight, as I took my kids to the “Puppy Barn” in American Fork.
There were dozens of puppies, but all of my kids were obsessed with a little black Shmorkie, that Dash named “Petty Bones”. They were all so in love, that we talked my mom into getting Petty Bones for Trilby, the true dog lover.
We were just about to leave for home, so decided we needed to hit up Walmart for some quick puppy supplies.
We stopped for Ka and NayNay to see their new dog, and they were in deep love.
They were so excited, that they wanted to call B to tell her about the cutest dog ever!
And that is when B informed us that although she talks about getting a dog quite often, she wasn’t in the market just yet.
UH OH!
Good thing that the Puppy Barn said that we only had him for a few hours, and to just bring him back.
My kids were devastated.
And as they all said their goodbyes, you would have thought it was a funeral. They were already so in love with him, it was amazing. Especially the Pips, who finally had her own little sibling.

Update: We called to check on Petty Bones a few days later, and are happy to report that he went to a nice family with two children.
Sometimes it amazes me how quickly Pippi can get her clothes off and start running around naked. This day at a public park, it took all of 30 seconds.
Just an afternoon in Pippi’s Heaven.
Where she was dragged around by everyone.
Where she went up and down the waterslide about a billion times.
And allowed her older siblings to come along.

Cowabunga Bay…you are literally the answer to Pippi’s unspoken prayers.
