After a fun afternoon in the cul-de-sac, I told the kids it was time to clean up.
Navy decided to do it convertible-style.
So she hopped in behind Pippi, and gathered everything up, while “Pippi” drove her to the garage where everything belonged.
Pippi thought she was in hog heaven.
Navy is constantly making darling handmade notes.
Today, she made me one that said, “Mom, Thank you for being my sunshine. Love, Navy.”
I loved it.
But was a little surprised when she saw that Brett was in town, and ran in to get her something.
And it was a note that said, “To Bret, Thank you for being my sunshine. Love, Navy.”
Scout did it.
Navy did it.
And now Dash and Pippi are doing it.
The second either sees my mom at her computer, they force their way into her lap.
And she stops everything she is doing to give them what they want.
Only Andrea Bocelli & Elmo singing “Time To Say Goodnight”.
They all love it!
And then she tries to put them down, and usually loses the fight.
Because where there is Andrea & Elmo….there is more!
This day, Dash held the Pips, while they watched, and he sand “The Wheels on the Bus” to her.
Once again, due to crappy insurance last year, Navy never had her 5 year check up. I wouldn’t really care, but I had to sign a waiver at school, that I hadn’t vaccinated her due to “religious reasons”. (The nurse at school told me to do that.) I still wouldn’t really care, but there has been a measles outbreak this year that has had any unvaccinated kids pulled from school!
How humiliating!
So far, we have stayed put, but they are already doing it in Huntington Beach, so I am crossing my fingers.
Good thing our insurance kicked in.
This girl weighed in perfectly.
And so did the vulture Scout — and later Dash.
And she was perfect for her appointment.
Notice Carruthy’s rarely seen smile?
He loves my kids.
-
So she is a bit tall, average weight.
Her sight was fine (although I was worried because she said a bunch of the letters wrong, but that is normal at this age).
As for vaccinations?
To counteract Scout taunting that she was going to get a bunch of shots, Navy kept saying, “So when do I get my shots? I LOVE shots!”
Everyone was amazed.
And I secretly laughed, knowing how classic my girl is.
(Reminds me of the girl who used to ask for more spankings because she loved spankings.)
So she got them, and didn’t make a peep.
Vaccinations — check.
Due to crappy insurance last year, we went a whole year without going to the doctors.
Thank goodness for better insurance, and getting to go back to see Carruthy again!
(I actually ran into his head nurse at the grocery store a few months back, and she asked where in the world we had gone, because everyone missed us. And that one day, there was an Olivia Denison on the appointment list, and she thought after all of my good names, I screwed up with the last!)
She weighed in at around 19 pounds.
Her measurements were the cutest measurement I have ever seen.
How stinking cute is she!
Carruthy says she checks out perfectly.
She is under average on weight and average on height.
I told him she took after me.
And then it was shot time.
I had Navy do the holding, as I took the pictures.
And look at the good capture I caught!
This was a great Sunday.
We all held a family fast for Bry, and tons and tons of people participated. - including Navy and Scout who didn’t eat for 24 hours. I wouldn’t be surprised if over 300 people fasted. Even his employees, who don’t fast, showed their support by fasting with us this day. It was incredible. And then we went to fast and testimony meeting, where it was the most beautiful and powerful meeting.
I went to give Bry, who is the Bishop of the ward, a hug before it all started.
I was surprised to see that he was shorter (his tumor in his back has eaten away his spine, and he is an inch shorter) than before, but was so happy to see him. He looked so great, and healthy.
The meeting started, and then some people bore their testimonies.
Megan started, and it was so sweet.
And then Scout bore his testimony and said, “I would like to talk about faith. We have this scripture chart at home, and it has a bunch of scriptures. And we learn a bunch of scriptures, and on eof the scriptures we learned is about faith. it goes like this, ‘Faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things. Therefore if we have faith, we hope for things which are not seen, which are true.’ And if we have faith, then we can get almost anything done.” I got so teary eyes when I heard my boy say such profound things.
Then I bore my testimony about the power of fasting and spoke about Matthew 18:20, ” For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
At the end, Bryan spoke and it was AMAZING!
Two things I love that he said were, “I don’t know what this earthly life holds for me, but I do know what my Eternal Life holds for me.” And, “If anyone was in my position, knowing how I feel, there is no way they wouldn’t want to be part of this church.”
He was such an amazing rock for all of us.

And then….after church, and many hours later, we all broke our fast with a delicious meal and chocolate fountain, in honor of the Superbowl.

It was clearly a well-deserved treat!
