Scout discovered that he can make his eyes cross.
Now, in every picture I am about to take, guess which handsome little devil is trying to ruin it.
This one.
This afternoon, was all about hanging out as a family.
Unfortunately, Micah was sick…so it was me and the three weasels.
But I kind of like special dates with the kids.
Our first stop was the last day of the elephant brigade.
We all picked our favorites.
Scout and I were dying laughing that Navy picked this one.
When I pointed out the really big-boobed angel, she retracted her decision.
Then Dash ran in front and was doing a silly dance that made Scout and I laugh even more.
After the elephants, we went home and played Legos for a few hours.
Dash was stoked on his tower.
I was impressed with Scout’s pyramid.
So Navy and I decided to make the world’s biggest pyramid with Legos.
After about three rows of it caving in over and over…Navy gave up.
And it was off to play bumper heads with Dash.
I followed in her footsteps minutes later, and called it a night due to exhaustion.
And then…right as I got the kids to bed, and laid down for a little R&R….guess who woke from the dead to hang out?
But when Micah is sick, it isn’t really hanging out.
It’s more like being a listening ear to him analyzing all of his ailments.
And then we both try to figure out why a cough and sore throat isn’t the typical cold this time.
(I’m actually just being nice….because obviously it’s the same cold everyone in the whole house has had for the last few weeks!)
When Dash sees Pippi in Bella’s or my wrap, he calls it her “pocket”.
And he always wants in!
So his biggest fan, Bella gave in.
He loved the pocket!
And even faked sleep so he didn’t have to get out of it!
I keep finding funny things next to Pippi when I check in on her.
And this might give you some insight into where those things have been coming from.
Only from the boy who might adore his little Pips the most.
And the proof is in the pudding.
That little boy is giving some of his most prized possessions away.
I have B to thank for Dash’s new addiction.
My boy is addicted to the “HiPad”.
No matter what time of day it is, or where we are, he is looking for the Hipad.
I hide it…he finds it.
I put a lock on it…he figures it out by watching me and unlocks it.
I tell him to take turns with Icka…he hits her until she leaves to have it all to himself.
It is ridiculous!
But I will admit….he is really good at it.
Our Christmas card photo session went as smoothly as can be!
Between Bella controlling Dash, Nonnie doing some last minute ironing, B reading to the kids prior to the shoot, Micah holding blankets, and Elise taking charge…it was smooth sailing!
And I’ll be honest….for as much as I dreaded this day, I could not be happier!
Here is a little sneak peek of the littlest angel:
Now….let’s cross our fingers that Elise’s pictures turned out as good as my few quick snapshots.
I can’t wait to see!
I took the three kids to the school carnival solo this year.
Clearly, I am capable of taking three weasels, but the fact that I had to man one of the booths for an hour had me curious to see how it all played out.
Because Dash was strapped down, I let Scout escort Navy around to the booths.
At first I was with them, but then it was my time to volunteer, and they were off by themselves.
(But I secretly checked in on them about every new booth and even snapped a few photos.)
Back at the booth, Dash was my helper.
He gathered the rings and gave them back to the paying customer.
When Scout and Navy finally came to my neck of the woods, I talked Scout into walking Dash around to some games.
Dash loved it.
He definitely thought he was one of the big kids, even though Scout played all of the games while Dash cheered him on.
If I were to describe each of my children in one word…these would be my picks:
Scout is GOOD.
He is good to the core. He came that way, and I think will always be that way. He is the perfect oldest sibling, because he sets a great example to them.
Navy is SPICY.
There isn’t a food in the world that isn’t better with some sort of seasoning or spice. That is my Icka. Sometimes she makes things hot, other times sour and most of the time sweet.
Dash is CHARMING.
I don’t know anyone who hasn’t fallen under Dash’s spell. He is always happy with a little devious side. But that full-faced smile gets him out of anything naughty he conjures up.
Pippi is ANGELIC.
In fairness, this is only her word for her short 6 weeks on earth. My guess is that her personality will develop and get her another word. But for now, the sleep-through-the-night, happy, sweet and perfect little baby is a little angel straight from Heaven. In the future, as she throws tantrums and has tiffs with her siblings, I am hoping her word takes a step down to BRILLIANT or HILARIOUS or even DARLING. Just please don’t let it ever be HORMONAL!
There is something so easy and beautiful about a baby who can rest anywhere.
I have no fear of her rolling anywhere, and anything is big enough for her at the moment.
These two just might be the best of friends when they’re big.
