Tonight I took my kids, Seth’s kids and the neighbor kids all over to the BH Pool.  When we got there, there was a couple trying to have a quiet, and possibly romantic time in the jacuzzi, so I told the kids to, “stay in the pool” loudly enough for the couple to hear.  With no response, I then looked over and said, “Sorry for ruining your quiet evening.”  Again…silence.  Awkward silence.  Brett and I were quietly laughing to each other.
Then when the kids realized it was a really cold night and that the pool was also pretty cold, they all ran into the jacuzzi.  Since there were youngens, Brett and I had to be at the jacuzzi to observe.
When all of the kids were in the jacuzzi with the couple, it was so awkward it was amazing!  They stayed in the corner — silent!  At this point, I wasn’t too worried about the couple because their social graces were pathetic.  So when the kids all wanted challenges, I offered some.
They ran and swam a lap and then jumped back in the jacuzzi.
They went and treaded water in the pool for three minutes and ran back.
After several challenges, and the couple just watching everything as they huddled in the corner, the awkwardness was palpable.
So I did what any mother would do….I snapped a picture.

And with the couple both staring at me after the flash, the awkwardness skyrocketed.
