After all of the other festivities, Scout got to finally celebrate with his family that he is six — at his choice…..Sushi!
He got to open his presents before dinner arrived.
A “Would you Rather” book that had the kids cracking up and thinking pretty deeply on whether they would rather swim with sharks or jump into a pool of boogars.
He got his very own alarm clock for “early day” each Thursday. He needs to be up and out the door by 7:20, and I am teaching him how to do it on his own with the help of Yoda.
And because we couldn’t haul it in, he got a picture of the tether ball set waiting for him at home.
He is pretty excited to get this game going with all of the neighbors!
In the meantime….with a whole lot of attention being thrown Scout’s way, look who got it right back on herself.
Isn’t she just a doll?
And a few moments later, she went for the rice up the nose trick.
Too bad I don’t have a picture of perfect little Dashy sitting and eating.
After baths…we had some celebratory cake.

Happy 6th Big Boy!
You are the perfect boy for me!
-
(Sidenote: When he first woke up this morning, he ran down to my bed yelling,”I’m six, I’m six!” I rolled over and said to him,”Do you know how HAPPY I am that Heavenly Father sent you to my tummy first. You are the best boy, the best big brother, a great example, etc. Six years ago was one of the happiest days of my life.” After my little speech, he was silent for about 45 seconds. I was starting to doze off when he thoughtfully said, “Aren’t you SO GLAD he didn’t put Berkley in your tummy!” Apparently Berkley is his nemesis, and isn’t too far from his thoughts.)
Typically at Scout’s school, each person brings in a little party favor for all of the other kids in class to let them know it is their birthday. And then the class sings the child Happy Birthday. Well, the day before Scout’s birthday, Ms. Shih came to me and said, “I know how good you are at parties, so I reserved an hour for you to throw Scout a birthday party tomorrow.
Whoa!
Actually, I thought that was pretty great, but I had to get to work.
I decided on potato sack races.
There were girls heats, boys heats, and then the ultimate winner heat between the top boy and top girl.
Scout won one of the heats, and got into the winners heats.
In the winners heat, he was out in fron until about 2/3 of the way when he tripped and Kai (the blond) took the win.
After that, Kai won the whole thing!
After that sack races, they headed over for a birthday snack (with no sugar as the school policy says) of goldfish crackers and juice.
Then it was the Happy Birthday Song.
Then lunchtime.
All while this handsome fellow spectated.
From the time I could talk, I wanted to be a model when I grew up. I even had a “model name” for myself. Mikaeela Glory LaBish. (The first name straight from a Star Search model contestant I found particularly pretty.) Well, looking back at pictures and video of when I was young, I don’t think I had what it takes. But Mikaeela Jr. might just have that something special.
Look at this natural pose I get every time I bring out the camera.
You should just see her passport photo.
Anyone know a good agent?
This pregnancy has taken me off my game. So when Scout’s birthday was around the corner, I knew I needed to act fast. So I called up some of his favorite buddies (Seth, Cade, Riley and RoRo), and had them join in on a Saturday night full of fun.
The agenda:
Denny’s (Scout’s pick) and disgusting!.
Big Air — the new trampoline place that is a blast.
Krispy Kreme to watch the process of and eat fresh donuts.
For pulling it together on Friday afternoon, this was a major hit for all involved less than 24 hours later.
But remember how this pregnancy has taken me off my game….there are only pictures of Big Air.
And none of the party guests.
Whoops!
The birthday boy loved Big Air. In fact, I have very few pictures of him because he was running from place to place with his buddies. But he was really fond of the foam pit where he did all sorts of tricks upon entering.
Navy loved the foam pit too.
And so did Superwoman.
But she ran into problems when she tried to get out, so Navy came to her rescue.
The only anti-foam guy was little Dashy.
Thank goodness for Doey who saved him, and Icka who comforted him.
Navy was with her two sidekicks a lot, and the three of them would hold hands and jump together.
It was pretty cute.
Dashy had more fun on the regular tramps.
But his ultimate fun was going around and giving all the pretty girls kisses.

Happy 6th Scout!
I hope you and your buddies had the very best time!
And I am glad you discovered your “best donut ever” at Krispy Kreme!
RoRo and Grey came over Friday night for a family bed sleepover. They were SO excited — along with my kids. We rented “Casper the Friendly Ghost”, and they watched, munched and played like crazy. It was literally after 11 pm, and with major threats, and about 10 minutes of my melodious singing voice to soothe them, that they finally fell asleep. All was well until 2am when Grey was not having a foreign bed, and Micah took a little date in the car with me over to Brit’s house.
I guess the two of us will take any moments we can to be together sans kids.
Even if it only is for half of a car ride.
The next morning, Grey wasn’t missed when these weasels woke up before 7 to play pirates.
Aye Yai Yai!
I had an afternoon free so I took Navy and Dash down to the farm — a place I know they both LOVE!
Most of the first hour was Navy collecting all of the guinea pigs she could and making Dash protect them from all of the other kids wanting to get them.
She was bummed when the worker told her there was a three animal limit.
Dash loved to stick his chubby little hand out and pet them.
Navy felt particularly accomplished when she got the black bunny that was “very very fast”.
Nonnie picked Scout up from school and they came and met us, and then paid a small fortune for some precious gem mining.
No worries. We got our moneys worth when the guy kept letting me shovel the used sand in over and over again.
WE were probably at that table for about 45 minutes, and the kids were loving it.
Our final stop was the aggressive goats.
They don’t know the meaning of personal space.
Just ask Dashy.
The farm is great, and totally convenient.
But who knows what they are thinking on their prices!
They must think they are the up and coming Disneyland based on what they think all of their goods are worth!
The Tweedles love to cruise on Scout’s long board.
(Here with our neighbor Liv.)
They will do it for hours.
As I was sitting on a lawn chair watching them cruise out of our garage, I saw this just about 20 seconds later:
My little Frick.
(Frack is coming this November.)
Dash copies everything he sees his brother and sister do.
It is kind of to die for.
A few minutes later, Scout went on a solo ride.
Look who followed.
(I had just changed a dirty diaper and he ran before I buttoned him up.)
Talk about the cutest kid on earth.
There is absolutely nothing that compares.
This girl has been practicing her hopping lately.
In the stores, out to the car, up to school.
I kind of liked her other trick of walking on her toes.
Not the bottoms of her toes, but the knuckles.
It was kind of a crowd pleaser.

This boy is my favorite thing on earth! He is ALWAYS happy. He is totally self contained when I need him to be. He gets hauled around in the car all day every day without complaint. He loves his mother like crazy. He has a caveman’s vocabulary. He actually knows tons of words (car, hot, more, hi, bye, mama, dada, Bella, shoes, choo choo, ball, num num, day day, ruff ruff, cow, dog, moo, duck, etc.), but a lot of them kind of sound the same. (Notice there is no “please” or “thank you” in the mix. And I have tried like crazy — and so has my mom and Bella. It’s a no go.) He adores being read to. He can point to everyone in the room, or whatever body part we ask him to. He is OBSESSED with riding bikes, scooters and cars all over the kitchen while we are in there. He LOVES his siblings, and tries to copy everything they do. He loves to play outside and has a fit when I bring him inside. He is a great sleeper, and always has been. He hates to sleep without his “Day Day” (Navy’s made up word fro blanket), but will when it is elsewhere. He wants food the second he wakes up, and gets it usually. He is getting his final four teeth (the vampires) and has been sad, but a major trooper.
I love this boy with everything in me. It is literally Dash who made me having another baby BOY in my tummy okay.
He will be the best big brother, because he already is the best little brother.
I keep telling Scout that I don’t want him to lose any teeth because it means he is growing up. Unfortunately, (before it was really ready to come out) he needed to eat something with his front teeth, so he got his dad to start pulling on it. ON the second try, when it hadn’t come out, Scout stuck his own hand in there and pulled. As he walked into the other room with his tooth in his fingers, I was SO MAD! First, that is his second tooth he has lost. Second, it was the second time I wasn’t there to witness and/or document it. He was so proud.
But was even more proud the next morning when he walked out with a $2 in his hand.
