Dash is classic! He is either putting his finger up to his lip to say “Shh Shh”, or he is on the go. Maybe he is trying to tell me to be quiet while he takes care of his business. But he is fast, and he is coordinated. Two things that aren’t a great combo when you are the mom trying to contain him. This day, he was worthy of a few pictures:
When he was looking as adorable as a little boy could.
Then when I let him out of his stroller (my form of locking him up) he decided to run like the dickens when I told him to come back to the stroller.
Then later, he thought he was one of the big boys, and rode this bike half way down our street.
When I took the bike away, he started up on the skateboard.
I finally slowed him down with an apple. And when he dropped it amongst the bikes, I finally had three minutes to get a dirty garage clean while he figured out a way to get in the tangle of bikes, get his apple, and then get out.
It was only three minutes, but when I usually have no minutes, I’ll take the three I can get.
Scout got a bunch of science experiments for Christmas.
He loves science, and told me he wants to be a scientist when he grows up!
This volacano was the only experiment we kind of tripped up on. There was too much water in the paper mache, and the volcano never dried, so five days into drying, we just went for the gusto.
When our volcano only slightly erupted, we put the whole container of magic powder, to see if we could get some real deal hot lava flowing.
We really couldn’t.
But the kids still had fun figuring it all out.
But as far as Scout wanting to be a scientist anymore….I’m not sure.
Bella house sat for Brit while she was gone.
And when she wanted to take the kids down to look for sea glass and heart rocks, I went along for the adventure.
We love us some RoRo’s Beach!
There are some thing sin life that once you’ve done them, you NEVER need to do them again! Taking three little kids to check out the Rose Parade floats is one of those things. Thank goodness my mom was game to go, because it would have been even more miserable without her.
(Plus, we hit up a pretty darling store before the floats, and that is always fun with Mama Mia.)
Everything started off smoothly. The kids were interested, and even asked the hosts a few questions. That was float one. From float two on, the only person who had a slight interest was Scout. And it was completely my mistake because when I thought about it later….of course a three year old isn’t going to be in awe of what meticulous work went into these floats.
Thank goodness for the free water that kept Navy and Scout occupied for five minutes.
It’s amazing how intrigued they were by these faucets!
Knowing that my younger two didn’t really care, my mom offered to sit with them and eat popcorn while I took Scout on a mini tour. So for about 20 minutes, we went to check some more floats out, and we had a good time. We especially liked the huge American flag.
I loved the “Freedom Is Not Free” float. Scout loved the churros. Speaking of the churros — freedom isn’t the only thing that isn’t free! He better have loved every last morsel of cinnamon on that $5 Churro.
The girl who decided that she didn’t want to walk has found that riding on her knees in the front of Dash’s umbrella stroller is a sneaky way of getting what she wants. But this day, Dash was not having it. He would get his feet up and with all his might, kick her off!
Have I said thank goodness for my mom yet?
Luckily I parked right next to an awesome park, and the kids were beyond stoked to play there.
Especially this little boy who is obsessed with Super-manning it down any slide he sees.
Can I just say that I am glad that this particular even is in our past, and not in our future. Maybe a one on one date with Micah — someone who could appreciate the workmanship. But to be honest, when there are 500,000 other people looking at the same thing you are….is it ever really that fun?
I have been known to stick a treat under the tree for myself from Micah. This year, I really wanted to get some professional grade balloons and a double-action air hand pump to make balloon animals for my kids.
So, I have been practicing, and I’ll admit that I might need to get myself a job at Ruby’s if times get tough.
I’m kind of good.
Here are a few flowers from the bouquet I made Navy.
Dash commandeered the blue sword. I preferred the red pirate sword that had a little more technique involved, but he was partial to the blue. And when I turned his red bib around and made it into a cape, he was full-blown super hero.
And here is Scout, walking around in his self-made dinosaur outfit.
But if you look closely, you can see the sweet palm tree and yellow sword I made.
