This is where we all congregated when we had the most awesome thunder and lightening storm.
I’ll admit….there is nothing better than all being in a Momma’s bed together.
Scout’s class needed stuff for their treasure chest.
I got all the above crap for only $12.
The teacher was beyond happy.
I was beyond happy.
Scout said all of the kids were beyond happy.
Where did I get this great deal?
I’d tell you, but then I’d have to kill you.
Even though my mom isn’t feeling too hot right now, she still fulfills her duty as Scout’s reading teacher.
I told her that she is lucky enough to get a second student soon.
She said she has already tried, but she only likes to take on the “easy” students.
You know — the ones who want to learn!
After Conference, I told the kids to get in their best outfits to go for a Sunday Stroll.
I got a fruity-tooty Superhero, an armored, sword-swallowing princess, and I added in the cow.
We headed down to the harbor, and walked around as we found some of the coolest treasures.
A hermit crab, a few shells, some helicopter flowers, feathers, etc.
Afterward, we came home to dinner and bed.
Amongst other things, frozen peas were on the menu for this little mooer.
(Frozen peas have been a favorite of all three of my kids.)
But out little animal didn’t want to stay caged, so he stood up.
Something he clearly knows is against the rules.
Then tried to escape.
Another rule breaker.
Then tried to butter us up by sharing Scout’s glitter hat.
But he knew he was in trouble, so made a mad dash.
I am crossing my fingers that he doesn’t live up to his name in this context.
I have always named my kid’s eye color. You know — Scout has “Army Green” eyes. Navy’s are “Milk Chocolate Brown”. I originally had Dash’s named at “Slate Grey”, but they changed long ago. So without wanting to jump the gun on naming them, I waited to see where they would finally settle in.
Meet Dash — the boy with the most beautiful “Dark Chocolate” eyes I have ever seen.
I don’t know that his name is ridiculously creative, but I do love the comparison to Navy….
….the girl with milk chocolate brown eyes.
This year during conference, I tried something new. I had the kids at their art table while we watched. I thought that they might be able to overhear some insightful tidbits while engaging in every single art supply in the house.
My plan worked. I told the kids that if they heard any of their memorized scriptures, I would pay them a quarter each time. Amazingly enough, they caught their scriptures every time. It was kind of cool to see, and I had some decent peace and quiet while I was trying to focus.
But every once in a while, I had to break myself from it. Especially when Scout was trying to sound out words and write me love notes. I am SO SAD to say that at the time, Scout told me what this note said — but I don’t have the foggiest.
But I remember this one.
“I love you. 36. (how old I am) Beautiful.”
For my very first handwritten note from my most handsome son, I melted just a bit.
What is it with every kid — and their obsession with Band Aids?
Navy was cutting with scissors and when they slipped, they barely missed her eye.
Yes, that was sickening.
But because she had a “boo boo”, she HAD to have a Band Aid.
Right?
My answer is “No” — there was not a speck of blood.
But if it made her feel better….fine.
At first she opted for a clear one that was a little incognito.
But chose a fancier version when she knew we were going out for the day.
At first I was trying to have her take it off.
But then, I realized that I was kind of impressed that she didn’t give a rip about what others thought of her — and the big cupcake on her face.
Megan picked up treats for my kids — like usual.
One of them was this funny pair of glasses.
Clearly, they don’t do a whole lot for anyone’s overall look.
Unless you are trying to take attention away from something else — like a big red nose.
Dash met Uncle David for the first time.
The jury wasn’t out long.
As soon as David nuzzled Dash with his prickly beard, Dash was a fan.
If this guy could be sewn to me, I bet he would. Dashy never likes to leave my side. I kind of love it. But it prevents me from doing a ton of stuff throughout the day. but we are adjusting. Now, he has learned to help me in the things I have to do.
So each monday during laudry time, he is in charge of getting the things out of the dryer and handing them to me to fold. Our system had a few bugs in it early on (like he liked to leave his post and take every folded thing out of the basket and throw it), but he is now mush more of a help. And I’ll admit that our timing is almost perfect. By the time he gets the new item, I have folded and stacked the previous item. So we are currently running like a well-oiled machine.
I bet we’ll work like this for a few weeks, but when he gets faster, I might be in trouble.
