This year during conference, I tried something new. I had the kids at their art table while we watched. I thought that they might be able to overhear some insightful tidbits while engaging in every single art supply in the house.
My plan worked. I told the kids that if they heard any of their memorized scriptures, I would pay them a quarter each time. Amazingly enough, they caught their scriptures every time. It was kind of cool to see, and I had some decent peace and quiet while I was trying to focus.
But every once in a while, I had to break myself from it. Especially when Scout was trying to sound out words and write me love notes. I am SO SAD to say that at the time, Scout told me what this note said — but I don’t have the foggiest.
But I remember this one.
“I love you. 36. (how old I am) Beautiful.”
For my very first handwritten note from my most handsome son, I melted just a bit.
