If I have the kids in the car in the evening, we will usually say their prayers and the family prayer before we head into the house. Last night, the kids were exhausted and I knew it would be mayhem before bed, so I parked in the driveway, and we said our prayers.

Usually we have some themes on prayer time. Whomever is asked to go first will start immediately, and then the other child starts to complain that he/she “didn’t get to go first last night!!!” (Hence, the starting immediately.) After a bit of that, we start over. Scout’s prayers are amazing. He sounds a little evangelical in them, and Micah and I have looked at each other many a times with huge smiles on our faces. He is so thoughtful and sweet.
Icka says the funniest little prayers. Usually she opens her eyes and goes around the room and says, “I love mama, I love Dada, I love Dashy, I love Scout” and then she includes about anyone else she can think of. After that, she blesses the food. (I have repeatedly told her that you only bless the food before we eat. But you know by me telling her that, just gave her more reason to bless the food at night.) Her prayers usually sound alike, and are pretty cute.

Last night as we were in our car, after Scout’s prayer, Icka said hers with the sweetest little voice from the back seat. I expected to hear that she loves a lot of people, but this time it was more thought out. After saying a few things, she paused for a moment and then said, “And please help Skylar to be weally weally weally weally good, so dat B will be poud of her.” I died.

Who knows if B is proud of Skylar today (she had a little tiff with NayNay last night), but little Icka has a proud mother!
