I don’t usually like to just put a million pictures of the same exact thing, but I can’t resist this time. All of the following pictures were taken within a minute of each other, and I would say that this is a pretty decent glimpse into what it is like to live with my girl.
She does not like to be without her “DayDay”. And she also doesn’t mind looking the fool at any time. (In this case with a ski hat on because she was “Coldy” this morning. But after I turned the heat on, she said, “Mom…it’s ‘warmy’ now!”)
There isn’t a clean bone in her body. Notice her spoon, which she is very capable of using. Notice her hand, which she always chooses. I get this girl dressed each morning, and she looks darling and pristine. Within minutes, she has something on her — blood, food, lotion, you name it and it has been on her! My Mom recently made the comment, “I don’t know why I always want to buy her such cute clothes, because she is a pig pen by the afternoon.” I think my mom was too kind. Afternoon? More like “afterbath” (if that’s even a word).
Look at her little face. She is trying to make me and Scout laugh. This girl, the one who wouldn’t even smile for the first 9 months of her life, always goes for the cheap laugh. She makes faces, she does silly dances, she chants things that are classic (jumpy jumpy jumpy…..). But the latest that is classic is when we sing together. I always sing parts of the song, and let her fill in the blanks where she knows the words. And lately, when it comes to her part she deepens her voice, makes it scratchy, speeds up her words by 1000 and sounds possessed when it’s her turn. It really gets the cousins when I sing, “I love to see the …….” and then Sissy pipes in with, “temple” that way. I’ll admit, it is very funny.
Another attempt at the cheap laugh. Amazingly enough, she almost always gets it!
And this is her reaction when she does. Rather than just laugh right along, she kind of does this smile like, “I’m funny aren’t I!”
I remember my mom saying that I have the most somber babies she has ever come across. You know — the ones that make you feel stupid when you are trying to make them laugh by doing something silly. Well, times have changed! There is nothing somber about my two now.

Now, any of you have tips on curbing potty talk? Because, talk about the cheap laugh — unfortunately, that is my kids go-to most of the time. And it drives me bonkers! But not too bonkers to have a few more punishments up my sleeve.
