Scout and I tried new stuff in our garden this year — carrots, cantaloupe and sugar snap peas. The carrots and melon were a bust, but the sugar snaps are a huge hit. Scout is always begging to go out and have some peas — which for my picky eater is welcomed news. Icka munches on them, and waits for them to be completely chewed up before she gently uses her tongue to push the green mush out of her mouth and down her cute outfit.
We also got one cherry tomato. Peas will be a definite must for seasons to come, and they are literally brainless. You plant them and they grow.
