B is the person who is always in the know.  So when she called us this morning to tell us that there was a 35 foot whale that was stuck in the harbor, I was stoked that an adventure awaited only two minutes away.  We found her at Doheny Beach, just past the break and along the jetty.  Nobody knows if she is injured or just hanging out.  Scout thought it was definitely Shamu, but I told him it was just one of Shamu’s buddies.  Channel 11 interviewed me and the kids for their afternoon news.  The funny thing is that when I got home, I went in and turned the TV on, and there we were.  They even used the following soundbite;
Reporter — He just keeps popping his head up….what do you think he is doing?
Me — He is just coming up for air — trying to breathe.
The brilliance just oozes out of me!

Here he is spraying water out of his blowhole.

Poor Scout kept pointing at the whale — or a large piece of seaweed!

Two news choppers, and tons of microwave trucks were hanging out.

These paddle boarders got a serious surprise.  Can you imagine being so close?  It reminds me of the time I jumped in the ocean to swim with David from Catalina to the main land.  For fear of what was underneath the surface, I never put my head under.  Good thing, because if I had seen something like this whale underneath me, I would have flipped.
