Early Riser

As I went in to wake up Navy for school, I noticed a little lurker in the bed.
Nobody had to tell me the story, I knew exactly how she got there.
It was 6:15 am (notice it is still dark outside), when Pippi got a fleeting thought in her subconsciousness that it was almost daytime so she hopped up and out of bed.  After turning her sound machine off, she struggled to lug the huge “NightNight” over her crib, and out the door.  Once she got to Nonnie’s room, she made her way into Nonnie’s arms where she fake slept — with snoring sound effects and all.  Then when I went in and saw her at 6:45, (as my tired-I-want-to-go-back-to-bed self) my heart sank.  But with the biggest smile and happiest disposition, she said , “Hi Mom!”
And the rest of my day had just begun.

Sweet Scout

Scout is the best big brother to Pippi.  It seems like every time anyone is eating anything at the dinner table, Pippi climbs up and plops herself right in front of the dish/bowl and begs.  Without hesitation, Scout always creates a bite for the Pips, and shares freely.
I’m not sure who he got his generosity from.
Nonnie who is never allowed to have a meal all to herself around the kids.
Or Daddy who might be the world’s greatest sharer ever!

He Loves School

Every single morning, Dash wakes up with, “Mom, is today a school day?”
He loves going to school so much.
And when we got to school a few minutes early today, rather than sit and chat with me in the car, he insisted on sitting on the front steps, with his bag du jour.
I secretly think he wanted to be the first kid in — which is not usually an option for him, as we are not usually the “early birds”.

Surprise for Grey

Happy Birthday Grey!
Thanks for the good times at Big Air — and especially for being one of our besties.

Self Portrait

I love, love, love seeing all of the little treasures that come home with Dash each school day.
I especially love the nostalgia that floods through me, when I see him repeating the same projects that both Scout and Navy completed just a few years ago.

Kid Vids

I am not on my computer much, but every single time I get on it, I have little feet flocking to me.
It’s kind of out of control.
Because of it, I get behind on my blog — and Emails get returned days or weeks later.
But I give in every time.
Because all these little kids are looking to do is watch family videos of themselves.
So I put them on while they crack up at themselves.

Dash’s Class Pics

You have to love this little sneak peak I was texted, of Dash’s first school picture.
My favorite part is the cute and kind of fakey little smile he is giving off.
I remember practicing my smile in front of the mirror when I was younger, and it looked just like the one above.
Mouth wide, teeth showing, and no squint in the eyes.

Self Sufficient

This silent but deadly little girl is always up to no good!
Always!
But I guess if you are little, and want a bite to eat, and nobody is hearing through your gibberish, you take matters into your own hands.
On the one side, it is awesome she is self sufficient.
On the much bigger side, it is MESSY that she is self sufficient.

Pattern Block Love

These two were so proud of their pattern.
And they both cracked up with how careful they were being — but that Scout’s shoulder messed it up for the picture.
Whoops.

Here is another pattern block lover.
Unfortunately the Pips destroyed his piece before I could see it.
And you know what this boy did?
He said, “Oh Pips…you accidentally knocked into my picture.”
You wouldn’t think by looking at this picture…but he is literally the sweetest.

Acrobats

I feel like my kids are always trying to prepare to join the circus.  On this leisurely afternoon, as Micah sat to listen to Scout play his new piano piece, Dash insisted on perfecting a few moves.
