Temple Square ‘19

I love our Temple Square tradition.
But part of that tradition is that my kids are usually particularly hyper on Holy Ground…but this year was different!
Hallelujah!
We had to stop at Temple Square on our way to Lake Powell…so they were so excited to get to the lake…they were just about perfect!

Other Cousins

Our cousin’s cousins, have become our other cousins.
Lucky for us, our other cousins have the best party house!

You can imagine how bummed my kids were, when we closed up shop.  But don’t worry…more plans were made for the very next day to put the party on repeat!

Fighting Preacher

We saw the best movie!  The kids loved it, and afterwards when we walked out, we were surprised to see that the little girl actress was outside signing autographs!

The kids were so thrilled to see a real movie star!

Especially Dash who got teased about loving her the whole way home!!!

Lagoon Matchers

img_0238-2019-07-26-at-16-25-02.jpg
When we were getting ready for Lagoon today, Pippi insisted that she match the little girls for the day.  White tanks and shorts did the trick.  And after they all got dressed, guess who showed up in her very own white tank and shorts?
Navy!!!
You’ve got to love the cousin love.

Summer Journaling

img_0218-2019-07-25-at-10-24-12.jpg
This is the first year that Pippi is really getting into the summer journal.  She tries to really think about what she writes in it each day.  Today’s entry was entitled “my mom”, and I loved that she was very intently drawing a picture of the two of us.  Afterward, she talked to her frog all about what it said, and what the picture was all about.  She is so stinking cute!

Trading Post

img_0197-2019-07-24-at-17-17-01.jpg
Each summer, my kids go to the trading post at Thanksgiving Point.  They usually just find some rock or dead bug to trade that is outside of the post.  But this year, they were actually prepared with some crystals and shells.
img_0196-2019-07-24-at-17-16-44.jpg
So for some reason, instead of trading for something cool, like an arrowhead, or a geode…Scout wanted to wipe them out of every pencil they had.
So 100 pencils later….Scout felt like it was a fair trade!
Uh…I didn’t.  I felt like a fair trade would be for the trading post people to take the crystals and shells…and send him out because he was too old.  But Scout worked the system…and got every pencil we will need for many school years to come.

Creative

Navy solved her baby carrier problems today, with a great pair of sturdy overalls!

Nice work Navy.

Gluttony

We got several Tres Leches for our big gang to share.  We thought they gave us one less than we ordered.  And then, at a table all by himself, we spotted the culprit:

He was in dessert heaven.
img_0187-2019-07-23-at-19-39-16.jpg
And on his last bite…he must have felt the video camera rolling on him, because he finally looked over.
And he was caught.
But truth be told…that kid never has a chance of getting away with these types of shenanigans.
His food circle gives him away every time.

The Heist

img_0174-2019-07-22-at-21-42-04.jpg
Calin talked us into doing a family Escape Room.  We got quite the crowd…and it was awesome!
We did a schoolyard pick, that ended up with basically everyone in Seth’s family and Ryan vs. everyone else.
We dominated!
But when we opened the last room to see the final clue…Seth’s lame family was there with the final prize already in hand.
I love some healthy competition…but even more when my team wins.

Hunt Sunday

This Sunday was great.  Details to follow:

If I ever thought our first row at church was crazy…it doesn’t even compare!
img_0158-2019-07-21-at-19-10-35.jpg
After church, Dash announced he was going to make tuna.  He has recently mastered it with his personal touch of mustard in it.  He made multiple sandwiches.  When some people went grab a tasty sandwich, Dash said, “HANDS OFF!”  He had made four sandwiches for himself — for today, tonight, tomorrow, and another for the next day!  We were dying…but at least he loves his own work.

We finished off the day with a mean game of “Bigger or Better”.  The kids came home with the biggest bunch of junk — A decorative sign, a rusted out scooter, and a used crockpot.  But each had big plans for their loot — Tristen’s wall, our trunk to come home, and Brett’s kitchen.
WE DIDN’T THINK SO!
It all ended up in the trash.
But summer Sundays at the Hunts are pretty great.
