We spent a quiet morning of gift opening.

A semi-quiet afternoon of watching conference while playing with toys.
(She loved this bus that plays “wheels on the Bus” from Nonnie.)

And a loud evening of a little girl walking around in her new high-heeled shoes.
I think the high heels are her very favorite.
And she walks in them like a pro.

Two is an exciting year Pips!
We love you and every one of the 730 days we have spent with you.

Alexa Sleepover

img_8754-2015-10-03-at-22-16-48.jpg
My kids were beyond excited when they heard that Alexa was going to spend the night.  After all five hyper kids finally fell asleep, I slept upstairs to make sure there weren’t any issues.  About an hour after they fell asleep, I heard quiet crying, and “I want my mommy”.  After some encouraging, Alexa went back to sleep.  But 15 minutes later, she was whimpering again.  So we got in the car, and I gave her what she wanted most….her mom.
You can imagine the long faces I got in the morning from my kids, when I told them the bad news.

RyRy’s in Town

We met RyRY over at the mall for a few hours of eating and playing.
My kids love RyRy, and amazingly, he stills loves them after witnessing four of the naughtiest kids ever at the mall.

100%

img_8695-2015-10-02-at-14-04-56.jpg
Navy had a rough go on her Chinese tests, at the beginning of the year.  So after some serious work and studying, when I saw that she got 100%, I celebrated.  And then I get her from school, and we both celebrated!  Hallelujah!
And a big thanks to Polie — her Chinese Grandma who tutors her after school.

He is Me

Dash woke me up this morning by saying, “Look Mom!  I am you!!!”  And I opened my eyes to see Dash wearing my sunglasses, while sporting my BYU lanyard with my car key attached.  Then he insisted on a picture.
Dash — if I look as cute as you do in that garb, I am doing just fine.

Harbor With Some Characters

Just a quick harbor walk with Elmo, and a boy on his way to preschool.

Brushing Superheroes

img_8690-2015-10-02-at-08-20-59.jpg
It is not uncommon at all to see my two youngsters cruising in capes.
Nor is it uncommon to see Pips with a toothbrush in her mouth.
So I wasn’t surprised when I saw brushing superheroes this morning cruising the halls of our house.

Gibberish

Pippi is full of gibberish these days.  She talks incessantly, but nobody has a clue to what she is saying.  But this past week (due to her screaming problem that I am trying to curb), I have really tried to understand what she is saying.  I figure that if I can understand her thousands of demands each day, maybe she won’t get frustrated with me — and then scream at me!
(Can you tell that there has been a lot of screaming lately?)
Well, it kind of seems to be working.
Now I understand that “monkey” means “milky” which means she needs a drink.
And “all done” means that she wants to get cleaned up.
And that “BUS!!!!!!!!!!” means that she wants to flop in front of the computer to watch nursery rhymes.
We are getting there.
And just minutes ago, right after Scout and Navy left for school, I felt like we had a real communication breakthrough!
She chucked her food off of her high chair, so I got her out and asked her to clean it up.
Which she did!
And then, as I was cleaning her hands, there was an ambulance way off in the distance, and her eyes got really big, and she said, “Uh Oh!  What is wrong?”
I couldn’t believe it.
But it was as clear as day.
And almost as clear as the teeny tiny light I can now see at the end of the tunnel.

Low Tide

img_8677-2015-09-30-at-17-42-57.jpg
When Britni called to tell me it was really low tide at RoRo’s beach, we went over for the afternoon.  I love her place, because it is the best of both worlds.  My kids have a blast out in the sun and water.  While I enjoy the view of happy kids while I sit in the air conditioning.

During Practice

img_8662-2015-09-29-at-17-19-52.jpg
While Scout is at football practice, my kids play.
Good thing there is a pretty kid-friendly park right next to the practice.
But even they get sick of the park after a very hot 60 minutes.

So then we check out the horse stables that house a rad zebra!
