Field Trip Crashers

I couldn’t make it to Navy’s field trip to the Ocean Institute today and I was so bummed.  But I did make it to the tail end of the field trip.  We were trying to catch her while she ate lunch, but we only caught her right before she was getting back on the bus.  Good thing her teacher likes me, and let her take the Slurpee I brought her on the bus.
When Navy got home, she said it was perfect because she was so thirsty.  And her Slurpee lasted her the whole way back to school!

Park With Goldi

Nothing beats a park day with your best friend/nemesis, while wearing matching bows.

Cutest Kids

The quality of this photo might not be the best, but the two kids grinning from ear to ear in it….are certainly the best!

Lists

My kids have been major lollygaggers after school lately, and it is driving me crazy.
So I decided to exchange my three hours of nagging, to one list that must be done before dinner to avoid bed immediately after.
Most of Navy’s list was completed in a very timely manner today, but when it came to “Keep dad in line”, she came to me really somber.  When I asked what was wrong, she told me, “Dad doesn’t come home until dinner, which means I can’t get my list done before.”  I told her that was just a joke item, and to not worry about it.  And then she said, “GOOD!  Because I didn’t know what “keep in line” meant.  Is it like he should follow me perfectly straight to the dinner table?”

Thumbs Up

Every once in a while, I get to take Pippi on a special date.  Today, with time between pick ups and drop offs, I took Pippi to lunch where she had her favorite — pasta.  While there, she was the cutest thing I have ever seen.  She was so happy to be there, that after every sip of her water, or every bite of her food, she looked over and gave me a “thumbs up”.
If my kids do something good, and they are far away, I give them the thumbs up.  In true copycat form, Pippi has picked up the sign, and is perfect with her usage of it.  And by “perfect”, I mean that I get about 15 “thumbs up” a day!

Fat Hand

When Pippi was in her tent, she found a rubber band that she put on her wrist.
(Disclaimer:it was a band to make a kid bracelet that she had found a few of — and put in her tent without my knowledge.)
When I got her out, she kept saying, “my hand hurt!”
When I looked down, I couldn’t believe my eyes!
I ran for a pair of scissors, and cut it off immediately!

But not before it did quite a number on her poor little hand.
Check it out:

That poor hand stayed fat for the whole day — even after massaging and elevating it.
The classic part was that every time we saw someone new today, she told them the whole story (in unrecognizable English), and ended it in her very disgusted, actress-like way, with, “And dis my fat hand!”

Easter ‘16

Everyone found their baskets that the Easter Bunny hid extra tough this year!

And someone was a little possessive of hers!
Our Easter was perfect.
Easter baskets in the morning, then a great day at church, and finally some good food and a huge egg hunt at the Brockbanks!

I think I have this exact picture from the time Scout was a baby, and now there are 4 weasels in the picture!

Pippi and Blush got to go first, and I think I could have watched Pippi all day long pick up an egg like it was the most exciting thing she has ever done!
After she got a few, then the masses came running.
And the rest of the day is a blur of candy and food!

Pinewood Derby ‘16

Scout was kind of on his own this year for his Pinewood Derby car.
We were out of town, so he worked closely with Seth and Cade (and a little Hansen John) to perfect his own.
We had no idea how his car would perform, but John told us he worked really hard to sand it down.
And to our surprise…he not only beat out Seth and Cade…and improve upon his placement of last year….

Our boy took third place ALL ON HIS OWN!
We were so proud of him.
But I think because he did so much of it himself, he was even more proud of himself!
Last year — 4th Place.
This year — 3rd Place.
Fingers crossed for 2nd Place next year!

Ka

The countdown is on until Ka leaves us for college.
Talk about depressing!
Especially for my kids who will be losing one of their own.
Good thing that girl spends a good chunk of her time on her phone, or this goodbye would even be harder!

60 Pieces

Nonnie recently saw that Dash’s puzzles had become too easy for him.  So together, they ordered a few harder puzzles from Amazon.  That boy checked every few hours each day until they arrived on our doorstep.  And when they finally showed up, he immediately got to work.
But then, we all soon realized that 60 pieces isn’t hard enough for the puzzle master!
