Scout has come up with a new nickname for Dash Denison — it’s D.D.
Those two have been best buddies lately, and it is so cute to see Scout mentoring the boy who really looks up to him.
This morning, I heard, “Hey D.D., if we want to go out an play, you have to read first, so if you come in here, I will help you.”
Simple sentences like that, are like music to a mother’s ears.
When I turned the corner to see the reading in action, the music in my ears became a full-blown symphony!
I absolutely love my Scouty and D.D.’s new bond!
We all love going to the Brockbank’s house!
But in that last hour, when Doey and the girls, secretly disappear…I know what is going to show up….MAKEOVERS!
I usually think they are funny, until the next morning when I am scrubbing their faces before the wee hours of their school’s first bell.
But today…
Today took the cake!
It was bad.
It was everywhere!
It was ugly!
But sometimes, it was kind of cute.
And to everyone’s surprise…Scout was even in on the action!
Their zombie act was funny, but then I made them all march right back up, and scrub away.
It’s no secret that I love my kids to match.
But when the cousins get in on the act, it is like a cherry is on top of a huge, delicious sundae!
Meet my quadruplets - Stinky, Pinky, Dinky, and Winky.
Their faces sum them up perfectly!

My kids really liked their costumes this year, because they said it was really easy to trick-or-treat in them. But Scout said that he would like it even more if he didn’t have a wig. So basically, he is telling me, that he would like to wear regular clothes, and run from car to car for free candy.
I’m SOOOO SAD to announce, that Scout wanted to pick his own costume this year. I said that I already had this year’s costume, and that he could go rogue next year — and then I figured out a foursome costume as quickly as I could! It might be an end to a very self-gratifying era!
Poor little Pippi, who only had three years to dress up with her siblings.
I hope this doesn’t scar her for life!
I guess we will all just have to soothe ourselves with the massive amounts of candy my kids accumulate.
And then trade away for all things nasty — like sour stuff.

It was a good night, with major loot.
And a surprise Ducky appearance…
By this cute little girl.
I was proud when a kid in the neighborhood came to me with his injury. I washed, cleaned and bandaged. Then I asked why me, and not Angi — his mom. He shrugged it off. But when I found out that he and Scout were “carefully” carving with pocket knives, I knew exactly “why me and not Angi”. This kid has had a past with pocket knives! SETH!!!
I love to see my kids being darling with babies.
Especially when it is their baby cousin whom they all LOVE!
I especially loved walking into this scene, where Scout was reading “Baby Blush” a few of his favorite books.
Just a quick picture of a boy on pajama day, with his outlawed drone.
(He had to take in three of his favorite things to share at school.)
Good thing no teachers confiscated it while he was showing off, after school let out.
Right when I thought a teacher was going to reprimand him, because it swiped through her personal air space, she told him how awesome it was.
I guess my “Scout, don’t fly that at school, because you will get in trouble” threat, just went down the toilet.
If this girl doesn’t grow up professionally entertaining, she is going to be a terrific mom to toddlers.
She knows every nursery rhyme by heart, and performs them in song constantly!
Most of my morning look just like this, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Because I am definitely Happy and I Know It, So I Clap My Hands!!!
Nothing says five, like an all-boys jump fest with donuts to follow.
It is the party that is the simplest but packs a huge punch!
This little gang of boys (and sisters) ruled Big Air for a few hours.
And just when they were on fumes…
We pumped them full of sugar!
Dash — Five has never looked so good — and messy!
Even though his fingers say four, Dash is actually turning FIVE!!!
And I truly think that all of his dreams may have come true today!
The day started off at school, and then he got picked up by B and Nonnie, for an awesome afternoon at Downtown Disney.
He learned how to make a balloon dog, and then went to Nonnie’s gift.
He got to go and create his very own remote control car!
I think in the above picture, Nonnie might be saying, “Wow, with every single cool upgrade, this is expensive!” but he got it exactly how he wanted it, and was in love with his red monster truck.
And to be honest, I was bummed that I didn’t know about this place, because my presents were chump change in comparison.
When he got home, we had presents and cupcakes.
It was definitely a car-themed birthday, for our boy who LOVES all things cars at the moment.
The best gift came from Navy.
And she made a little treasure map for him to find it!
Dash, Five years ago, I was holding a little boy who didn’t look anything like my two other babies. You gave us a run for our money — ending up with two blood transfusions in your first few weeks. When you were in the NICU, the nurses thought you were the sweetest baby in all the land. I just might write them to say, “he was the sweetest then, and the sweetest now”.
I love you. I love your relationship with Pips. I love your love for puzzles and cars. And I love that you just might the child who defies my “third child” theory.
Happy Fifth.
